Default What will Prizm cases go to?

I see most places have moved box prices between $120-130 in the past week. Where do you see these settling? Do you think they will continue to rise?

I think they'll continue to rise. It's the first year of a popular product, so this is the beginning of nostalgia.

Also since the golds aren't redemptions they don't expire so people will sit on cases.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing. With the main chase cards (Golds) being all live they could conitnue to rise. Also I figure the double RC class helps. I thought as more products were to come out it might soften but with all the CRAP Panini has been putting out since Prizm it probably is fueling its rise...

I think you cant really compare the two. 10-11 is a horriblw RC class. I think this years RCs will make stuff have better long term value. Plus TC tanked originally. This has been able to maintain and steadily rise.

irrelevant. prizm is directly comparable to 08 TC. if the rookie class continues to develop as it is (2 probable future all-stars and a ton of additional potential) it will be $200+/box at some point in the future.

Just as much as 05-06 Exquisite was sold for last year vs this year. I guess a bad rookie crop does affect a product even if it carries a name like Exquisite!

Is the Gold Prizm hobby only? I wanna try a few retail boxes for hoping to get some greens and even a Gold! But if not, I may want to stick with the hobby boxes!

How is 05/06 a bad rookie year?

Chris Paul, Deron Williams, Andrew Bynum, Danny Granger, David Lee and
Monta Ellis were in that draft

06/07 was a bad year, 05/06 was not so bad.

If you look on the side of a retail box, it mentions gold refractors. Odd since it was released that they were hobby only. The box is misleading.

If the rookie class is as good as you say it is, shouldn't all 12-13 product go up in price?

I always thought what would drive up the box prices of this product would be the gold prizms alone.

Why would someone pay $200+ for base chromes and a 1 in 100 chance at a lillard, irving or davis refractor?

It wouldn't go up in price for the stellar sticker auto opportunities in the product.

Beyond a certain price, collectors will stop cracking and start buying singles instead- it happens in all products- until less than 5% of the entire case run remains, and the prices go up due to scarcity alone of unopened product.

Hmm, last year a case of 05/06 exquisite sold for around 5k-6k, and this year over 6k if you can find one in existence. And this is despite the presence of known expired redemptions.

05-06 is certainly not a bad rookie crop.

I think you've mistaken 05-06 for 06-07, please get your facts straight, and don't try to convince me 06/07 is better than 05/06- it would be a losing battle for you.

Boxes of TC were up to $175 last year and can now be found for $125.

If you can find some sealed cases of any licensed NBA exquisite, please let me know.

To answer the OP question, I think the boxes will take another small bump up to around $150/box, then settle there for a while until the product really dries up to less than 5% remaining.

i was just talking about potential. IF the rookie class is as good as it potentially could be based on early returns, yes all products will eventually dry up and go up from where they bottom out (not necessarily from MAPP price). hoops and prestige already have firmed up slightly from their lows.

I had an argument with a veteran member over this just a few weeks ago. At that time the boxes were going for around a 100. Prices seems to have jumped 20-30% in that time. It really tells you how fast this product is flying off the shelves. Once it reaches 200+ people will start to just buy singles driving up the prices even more of the rare pulls, since more people will be bidding on a fixed supply of rares.

I think it settles around $140. There is just nothing out there worth big money besides the gold rookies and there are only 10 of them. It would be different if you had big auto chase cards for the rookies or 1/1, but only the prizm auto /25 are big. Not enough variations to continue to rise imo.

It really liked the 2011 Bowman Draft BB which both contained strong RC class and amazing color parallels to chase for. The case price of Bowman draft had gone up months by months until most of the chase cards (Superfractors auto & color refractors auto of those promising prospects) had been pulled, then the price was settled down with a small drop. I think the prizm cases will do the same as the price will climb up to reach in around $180, and once most of the noticable golds were pulled, they will settle down in around $150.
