The lost by 12 to the Florida Gulf Coast Eagles.

Then lost to Larry Birdless Indiana State.

And got completely smashed by Arizona..

In fairness to Miami, they lost to those awful teams when they weren't healthy.

Reggie Johnson and/or Durand Scott were out in the losses. Every team has to deal with injuries, so it's not an excuse, but is the reason for the bad losses (by score, or by team)

Florida Gulf Coast defeated Miami 63-51 Tuesday night to post its biggest win in school history.

Before the Eagles' first men's sellout, 4,552 fans at Alico Arena, Bernard Thompson added 13 points.

Spurred by a 23-2 run, Florida Gulf Coast (1-1) led 32-25 at halftime.

''It's kind of what we expected,'' Miami coach Jim Larranaga said. ''We haven't been defending very well and a couple of guys on the team need to shoot the ball well for us to open things up inside.''

Despite making just 1-of-11 3-pointers, Florida Gulf Coast won thanks to a 40-14 margin in points in the paint and 40-32 edge in rebounds. The Eagles had six dunks.

Larranaga, whose team lost to Division II St. Leo in an exhibition, said, not having guards Durand Scott and Garrius Adams hurts his team's quickness. While Adams is bothered by an injury, Scott must sit out one more game due to an NCAA suspension.

''It's not a wake-up call,'' Larranaga said. ''It's more a deficiency. We're slow. We're not a quick team. We were expecting to be quicker. We thought our big guys, who are in better shape than last year, would be able to run the floor better. Right now, teams are outrunning us. They're light on their feet. We're heavy on our feet.''

But how are they playing right now? They destroyed Duke and UNC. They are a better basketball team now than they were when they lost those games. Like I said anyway, I don't think anyone truly deserves to be number 1 right now. It's all just numbers at this point. The real number one is crowned when they win the tourney.

Pitt Panthers fan here. They are really starting to play well. Don't think they are gonna go far in the tourny this year but this team is young and only loses Woodall and Taylor, look out next year!

Also, Steven Adams is playing better but i don't understand why when he gets the ball close to the basket, why he doesn't take it up strong and jam that thing!

lol I don't care how you spin it, Miami has a HORRIBLE loss on their resume. Easily the worst loss for any top 10 team.

Expected that we'd fall below the Badgers, all the way down to #26. Indiana should break the streak of #1 losing since they host Nebraska and Purdue this week. Duke should lose one of vs UNC or @ MD, Miami shows if they are real @ FSU and Clemson.

MSU is looking really good now, solid losses with UCONN first game, Miami, Gophers at #9, and @ Indiana. Big road win vs Gophers, crushing Michigan at home, and beating Kansas early.

Plus a home win vs OSU and road win at Wisconsin.

Since when did Kentucky go from a bad team, to a decent team with a great blocker, and now an amazing team without their best player? ESPN is trying to question if they still have chances in the National Championship without Noel.

Signed, a Michigan fan.

Your opinion on MSU is rather irrelevant.

Not really, they still have to play OSU, Indiana, and Michigan in a row after their next game vs Nebraska

Odds are they still lose two of those three

"Don't drink the sparty koolaid" that's what I referenced to, and that is irrelevant coming from you, because your hate for such an elite program.

You left out Wisconsin, but maybe they do lose 2 of those 3 you listed, but there's no reason they can't steal a game at OSU or Michigan...

I see a Big10 title in MSUs future, the only way your team sees that is backing into it....again.

If the Hoyas can win at Cincy Friday night, they have to start working their way into the discussion. They had a short stretch around the beginning of the Big East schedule where they played poorly and have a couple of bad losses......but they have really put it together. They are very young and it took awhile. Two key ingredients they have-- one of the best defenses in the country and a budding superstar in Otto Porter. Not many teams will want to see them in their part of the bracket....

Michigan just got run off the court at MSU. Homecourt advantage is important, it isn't worth 35 points.

Arizona at Colorado tonight, should be an outstanding game, the energy in the building is going to be out of control.

I'm sure most of you remember how our last game with them ended with the three pointer controversy. They've been waiting for this game ever since and want their payback, while our guys want to shut up everyone who was saying we were handed that game

Could end up being the game of the season in the P12 given everything that went down a month ago, lots of emotion and energy in that building tonight, can't wait

You really have no credibility, your team got punked and you still run your mouth and act like MSU is terrible.

Exactly. MSU was CLEARLY the better team, and punked Michigan. Now I expect Michigan won't play nearly that bad in 2 weeks and MSU won't play that well, and I expect Michigan to win (because it's really hard to win on the road against good teams in the Big10), but would it shock me to see MSU win? Not at all, they're also a good team.
