I was just checking some NBA all-time stats...he is #30 in scoring with 21,653. Barring injury, at the end of this season he should pass Larry Bird, Gary Payton and Clyde Drexler. If he scores 2104 more before he retires he will then be in the top 25 all time!!
Not sure he will make the top 20 since there are guys above him still playing(Garnett, Pierce, Allen, Dirk, Duncan). He is an 8 time all-star and did win ROY in 99 as well. In?

Besides scoring a bunch of points what has he done during his career? What has he won? That being said he still has a chance. Hell if they can elect Ralph Sampson they why not Carter?

I think he will get in. Career average of 21.1 ppg. Over 5,000 rebounds, close to 4,000 assists. He won the dunk contest in 2000 and brought excitement back to the contest in what could still be considered one of the greatest dunk contests ever. I would rank it up there.

Vince Carter is a scumbag. He doesn't belong anywhere near the hall of fame.
/end bitter Raptors rant for the year

He also won a gold medal for the USA in 2000 while leading the team in scoring. Edit to add: It was on this team he had one of the most impressive dunks of anyone dunking over that 7-footer.

He did win ROY and yes he will be a HOFer IMO (yes I am a Carter fan) but winning a ROY, 20,000 pt club, I believe however he is a 6 time allstar not 8 (unless I am forgetting a couple) and he did bring back the dunk contest and made it fun to watch again. I know Carter has his flaws and people are bitter but that doesn't change the fact of what he has accomplished and the fact the when he was first drafted and in the early 2000's most NBA fan's watched games just to see his highlights. He also is tied with Michael Jordan and D. Wilkins for getting the most votes for appearing in an all star game. (3 times).
on a side note he has actually been playing good this season with the Mavs. I know he has had a few off games but I have caught a few when he drops 25 points in 22 minutes. |

unfortunately basketball has a joke hall of fmae, he'll get in. basketball excitement, leading the raptors for years, great college career, will end up top 25 in all time scoring. but in my opinion if the nba had a strict HOF like baseball he would be close but NOt in.

Will he get in? Yes.
Should he get in? For me, he's borderline at best. I'd lean no.

If nice got you into the Hall, Jerome "Junk Yard Dog" Williams would be a shoe in. By far the nicest bball player ive ever met. When he played in Toronto, he would always be walking the streets and talking to everyone. He even played pick up ball at jarvis collegiate after schools on his day off just to hang with kids!

He's easily going to get in, when u pass the best of them in scoring ur going to get in and everyone forgets college he had a great college career and college plays a factor in the hall of fame, and there's talks about him and Marion being traded to contenders so if he goes and gets a ring there's no question

Bernard King, if he gets in, opens the door for guys like Carter and Melo who were just scoring guys and really didnt win much.

He gets in, and I really don't think there's much of a debate. It still astounds me how much crap this guy gets after all of these years. The majority of the negative things said about him in this thread aren't even true. Either that, or they are warped versions of what actually happened.
In my opinion, the two things that really go against him are the lack of a championship, and the fact he's skated by on pure talent throughout his career. If he would have worked half as hard as Kobe, this wouldn't even be a serious question.

He will get in. There are players with much less on the resume that have got it.

I don't think he will get in. For most of his career, he is not one of the best players in the league. He made to All-NBA 3rd team once, and 2nd team once. ZERO 1st team. And those all-nba awards came from his 2nd and 3rd year. If I see him from 1999 to 2009 stat, he is like top 20~30 range players.

Great highlight reels dunks. But his career was not impressive.
This one is for kingofkings1281 USATODAY.com - Raptors criticize Carter after he admitted not giving 100% |
