Kobe: Did I get a steal?....a good deal?....pay market rate?

I picked this one off around 5:00am central time this morning. It's a 2008-09 UD Ultimate Collection Veteran Materials auto. If I remember right, this was the last Kobe redemption that UD was able to fulfill. I think the story was that he bolted for Panini before signing these so they had to use sticker autos. There are only 10 of them. I got it for $305. For some reason, I think it should have brought a lot more than that.

The sticker makes the card less desirable. But it is still a sick card to have.

Yeah just checked beckett and it is listed but that sticker looks really off to me.

theres nothing suspect about it. both the kobe and durants from this set used leftover sticker autos. i love the design, but the stickers just kill it for me. id say you got a 'good' buy, but not a huge steal.

I knew it was real when I bought it. I remember reading about it on here when the first ones started getting redeemed because they were from 08-09 and UD didn't redeem them til like 2011. There was some story about how they had to get Kobe to sign a sheet of stickers to fulfill his obligations to them even though he had been with Panini for almost a year. (probably why he did such a shitty job on the sigs compared to what he normally does). It has a neat story. And unless they walked out the back door (which with UD, we all know they could have), I seriously doubt all 10 of them were redeemed in time.

Nice card but at least Upper Deck could have put the sticker on straight...I hate sticker autos..I would have rather had that card without the sticker auto and just the game used swatch...That being said, i think you got it for a decent price..

Card is definitely real, the story is that actually when Kobe signed these stickers, he had already become Panini's spokes person, however, he still had a contract with UD to fulfill some autos, so the results were these ugly autos because he purposefully did not put any effort into these. By this time, Kobe was signing his new full signature on all the products already, so it was obvious he completely mailed these in. I think these stickers fulfilled redemptions for cards from Radiance & Ultimate, you see these one the Ultimate Epics too.
