How real is "the U"?

IMO, "the U" is the biggest surprise in college basketball.

So far, this has been the greatest season in my lifetime watching "The U" basketball team.

Destroying #1 Duke, so far they are still undefeated in the ACC, and now they are ranked #3 in the AP poll (which I heard is the HIGHEST in their entire history).

But here is the most important question....how real are they?

Can they win the ACC Tournament?

Can they get a #1 or #2 seed?

Are they a real Final Four contender?

Biggest surprise, yes. I honestly think they can go all the way. They have one of the best teams, and Shane Larkin is very talented. But in reality, I can see them losing in the Elite 8 or Final Four

I've got so much respect for the Tar Heels.

Unlike Duke, I actually don't mind seeing them win.

Their legacy, their championships, their amazing crop of players, and of course their Carolina Blue uniforms...

IF I wasn't such a big Miami fan, I think I might have been a Tar heel fan.

Anyways, I will in fact enjoy this, because "The U" is not known for their basketball team.....and I really hope they can go far this season.

I wouldn't be shocked if they made it to the final 4, Larranaga is a hell of a coach.

They barely got by my Wolfpack (NCSU) and we didnt have our starting point guard for the entire game. The hit a game winner at the buzzer to beat us.

Canes are playing better basketball than anyone in the country now. Not just winning but blowing good teams out. They play great defense, have a great inside game, and have tons of shooters that can hit the three. They are going to be tough to beat especially if they are hitting 3's. Also have tons of experience since most of the team are seniors.

they have the number 1 strength of schedule and only have 3 lossses... thats incredible

2 of the 3 losses verse rpi top 50
one being a very good arizona team...

6 wins verse rpi top 50 and another win verse maryland

i think there for real... experienced guys and i like how they share the ball and balance the scoring...

i think there def for real... the game at duke will be a big test tho

If they can win at Duke, they can go all the way. It's the toughest place to play basketball. It's going to be a great game, and a huge test for the U

Ya, they cant expect to win going in... regardless no team any season can really be favored to win in cameron...

But i really think if they stay hot they can beat any1... theres no clear cut team... I watch a ton of bball and do a lot of research for bracketts and stuff and usually by this time of the year i know atleast 2 or 3 teams i definitley like to win it all.... even in years without top teams unlike last year...

Gonna be interesting and very fun... there is no clear cut number 1 pick as welll this year...

Hopefully we get a nice bracket group maybe for a little money this year going as well.. would be cool... or maybe even every1 puts in a card or somtin

I couldn't agree with you more. This may be one of the most interesting NCAA Tournaments, I have ever seen. Not one school, is dominating this year, and the #1 team lost the past 5 or 6 straight weeks, which is great. I just can't wait to fill out the brackets! They are going to be really fun and interesting!

I don't pull for any UF sporting teams. I support the university academically, just not athletically.

I've worked with several Miami graduates. They couldn't tell you a thing about Hurricane sports. The school academically and the sports are two separate worlds. Those that go for graduate degrees don't even know sports exist. Unfortunately the sporting teams have shamed the university's top tier academics.

I liked UF academically, but like I said, it was too expensive for me.

I graduated last year from FIU, but I will not continue my education.....I'm just not willing to go through graduate school.

I wasn't either. I graduated from FSU in 2002. Ten years passed before I returned to school. I wish I had gone sooner.

Miami is the first team in ACC history to beat both Duke and UNC by 25+ in the same season. So, um, yeah, they're for real. I haven't seen a better team in the country this year. They're like Larranaga's miracle George Mason team in '06 (experienced, older players accustomed to playing together) but with more talent.
