Default New low on EBAY...selling USED redemptions

Have been looking to get a Kyrie auto (along with everyone else) and stumbled acrorss multiple listings selling USED redemptions. The picture of the card shows what looks like an unscratched code. Some do not have any bids...but look at this one:

2011 12 Panini Past Present Kyrie Irving Rookie Auto Used Redemption Xrco | eBay

I've collected used redemptions for my player collections, but I only value them at a few pennies each.

I came across these just last night.

2012 Triple Threads Mike Trout Relic Auto Emerald Redemption Used RARE | eBay

2012 Topps Triple Threads Albert Pujols Used Gold Auto Redemption Only 9 Made | eBay

2012 Bowman Sterling Bryce Harper Black Refractor Auto Redeemed Redemption 25 | eBay

I don't know what worse...The people selling the used redemptions or the people dumb enough to buy them for those prices.

This guy is a member on here.

I can see a side to buying this. You go to enter the code on Panini's site, obviously gives you an error message saying already entered or something like that. You contact them saying I just opened this box, got this redemption, blah blah blah. Then they can do a couple of things, 1 honor your code as well and assume they made a production error and printed doubles, tell you to go pound salt, or they can contact you and the other person that entered the same code and ask to see a copy of the actual redemption card and then honor the code that has the card to go with it. I could potentially see the people selling these used cards getting burned in the long run like this. I personally ALWAYS keep the redemptions until the actual card is in hand (as Panini tells you to do) and when I buy them on here or ebay I ALWAYS make them send me the card in the mail for this reason. I will gladly pay the shipping vs run into a potential issue like I laid out above. I know a lot of guys that just want the code emailed to them to save the $2-3 shipping, but to me, its not worth it at all.

It says in the title and in the description that is it already used. Who cares if someone is an idiot and does not read the title or the description. Not the sellers fault at all.

You can sell ANYTHING on eBay(per site rules).

I recall people listing "invisible helmets" when Roethlisberger got into his motorcycle accident when all it would be is a picture with an empty box.

The first item every sold on beta eBay (the item that started what became a juggernaut):

A broken, non-working laser pointer.

I buy used/expired redemption only if there is a player picture on the redemption card.

I would sell a pile of sh!t if people would buy it.....I see nothing wrong with what the seller is doing as long as it clear states that the redemption is used.

If people want to buy it so be it.

I completely agree.

I suspect several of the bidders failed to read. Unfortunately eBay is set up to allow lazy people to correct their errors. And also for sneaky sellers to disguise listings (generic comment, not describing these.)

If you think about throwing something away, check eBay first. I've sold some silly things. I'm sure I've purchased even more silly things.

Exactly, you can't blame the seller, he is clearly stating that it's used. The buyer is the one to blame(if you are looking for someone to blame). Maybe the buyer enjoys collecting used redemptions, you never know.

I had a used Bryce Harper redemption up for a few days and it cracked $100 last night. I messaged the bidder to see if they were serious or just dumb. They were dumb AND got mad at me for trying to mislead them?... You would think they would be happy that I told them what the Title and Description already said so they didn't get screwed... I just ended the auction early and canceled all of the bids. Called eBay and got my fees back.

Seller says it is used, people should pay attention. I have some signed stuff that were originally redemption cards and I wouldn't mind finding a redemtion even though it was fleer items and they will be well expired. Of course I would only pay about $1.00 each for them just so I can have the redemption and the item.

Player/insert collectors like the 1990s redemption card as long as there is no writing on them. They are tough to find, and bring decent money.
Ones with pictures are even better like this one:

1996 SPx NNO Anfernee Penny Hardaway Expired Exchange Auto | eBay

I will also say that if a "season pass" redemption ever showed up on Ebay it would fetch 4 figures easy if it was not a common.
