Default Need some help from the basketball guys...rare insert?

hey guys,

i haven't collected basketball in a while and I was going through some of my old stuff last night and came across a 1998-1999 skybox thunder tim hardaway rave insert/150. I know some of the cards from that set do well but I didn't know if this was one of them. The only one I can find on ebay was a vin baker that sold for $200 but I have no idea if that sale actually got paid for or not.
Did I find a decent hit or is this just a $2 card? I am working on getting a scan up but it looks exactly like this but is tim hardaway. any help is greatly appreciated.

The Raves are fairly rare..........the SUPER Raves are the extremely rare and tough ones.
The listing ended on the Baker....but that was not a sale. I think you probably have a $10-20 card.

Don't think it'd be a $200 card, also don't think it'd be a $20 card. I'd guess something like $50-70, though if someone really needs it, who knows...

well, just to put a cap on this thread, I went ahead and listed it last night on ebay with a $199 or best offer. Sold for $199 within a couple of hours and has been paid for. Thanks for all the input guys, it definitely helped out.

Bump. Why is it so hard to find ANY player from this set?

It's a 125 card set and each player is serial numbered to 150. A grand total of 4 (!!) cards from this set have been graded by BGS -- two each of Rodman and Jordan -- and 0 by PSA.

There was a thread about this set on HobbyKings. One poster suggested that there was a production error and that none of these were inserted into packs. I'm starting to think that because this product was released during the 1998 NBA lockout -- with no rookies and little demand -- that it failed to sell and that most of the hobby boxes were returned and destroyed.

The Rave & Super Rave inserts were hobby only, while the other inserts appeared in retail. So that's why you still see a lot of the Noyz Boyz inserts on eBay, but never the Raves.

I've somehow managed to pick up the Raves of Keith Van Horn, Ron Mercer, and Chris Anstey. At this point, I'd pay a pretty penny for any card from this set simply for the novelty factor. I've never seen an insert set this common be so hard to find!

You'd think if the set didn't sell in stores that Fleer/Skybox could have at least backdoored the Raves and Super Raves through a major seller like Burbanksportscards (who must have had a direct link to the companies given their incredible inventory from that time period).

In any event, I remain fascinated by this set and will continue to do my research.
