I think it has a lot of potential ... Even though the Dual / Triple Autos are Rare, that is exactly why this product will be fun to bust - Unlike most of Panini's products (Outside Prizm / Certified) where the best card you could pull is a Rookie Auto worth $200, this product actually has some Huge Chase cards !!!

4 Cases of this stuff:/ You're making me have a panic attack with the thought of putting all the sets together for resell! Incidentally this is a lower end product with some chasers, I don't think it would be wise to bust so much, but what do I know.

I actually stay away from high end products that are basically hit based. I would never touch timeless treasures, gold standard, absolute, or even preferred. National treasures is fine because I end up flipping the cases since I can get a decent size allocation from my distributor. why? I've made money with every other basketball product i've broke except possibly elite. I get my stuff from a distributor rather then having to pay retail which makes it easier to turn a profit. |

Some people on here are convinced that you can't make any money breaking Panini products despite being told you can by people who actually do.

[QUOTE=bmuelle21;4380306]Lower end products can actually be the easiest to make money off of. You aren't having to rely as much on hits. I just finished a 10 case break of 2013 Topps Series 1 so I'm fine with sorting. Fortunately, I'm not going to have to sort 25,000+ cards, lol
I actually stay away from high end products that are basically hit based. I would never touch timeless treasures, gold standard, absolute, or even preferred. National treasures is fine because I end up flipping the cases since I can get a decent size allocation from my distributor. I understand, my post was basically saying I hate what it takes in order to make money off the low end stuff. I also put a value on the time it takes to sort and also while I flip regularly and also get stuff at distributors prices most of the time, its still a hobby for me and that is no fun for me personally... my biggest pet peeve is when I do a few boxes or even a case and I make like $30-40 bucks and spent hours sorting and shipping. I do know that on a good case you can do really well, I do know that I do well often on Panini and I wouldn't touch any of the boxes you named as a profit mechanism either!!!

Where people go wrong is when they jump into this and they don't really realize all the work that goes into this, and how much time sorting, shipping, and listing take. They basically get all pumped for opening multiple cases of a product (who would't lol) and then when they have everything open they have an "o #@#@#@#@" moment because they see a mountain of cards in front of them. Now I have done a couple of breaks where I had no help and although I got it done that SUCKS (mainly the sorting). I can tell you one thing, I would NEVER do this in place of a full time job. Too much volatility. Unlike most people that tend to sell common base, rookies, or inserts in lots I like to break everything up to get the most out of it. It does take a lot longer to sell everything but it also helps the bottom line in the long run. Quote:
Also, I understand that top rookies need to be SP'ed but it seems in Elite that I'm getting 2x more no name auto's then I was getting in any other product. Elite has a ton of vet auto's but the problem is a lot of those auto's are from guys like Nick Collison or other similar players that don't sell well. Like, don't get me wrong there is a ton of content in this product but it's almost like there is too much of everything. Most people aren't going to pay a high price on a gold /24 when they can get the same player in a different insert/parallel numbered to /66 or some other similar number. The reason Prizm worked was one the hype surrounding it, and the lack of chrome in the basketball market but I think it was the fact that they didn't load the product up with numbered parallels. The essentially had no numbered refractors and then the gold /10. People recognized that, and mixed in with the hype around the product went nuts. You had everybody bidding on the golds because there simply weren't other options to bid on. Last edited by bmuelle21; 03-03-2013 at 10:03 AM. |
