He did it in 1962 and no one has come close in 50 years, with all the scoring talent that has played in the NBA in that time? It won't be broken.

Remember Wilt was a man among boys, and the reason for alot of rules in the nba now is because of Wilt lol

Wilt was like a cheat code for his days.... He is a "99 created player in NBA Live 2000"

Before we even deliberate if Wilt's 100 is beatable, I don't even think anybody could replicate or destroy Kobe's 81.

Wilt was a man amongst boys..taller and stronger than anyone else...compare that against Kobe 6"6 shooting guard

Rasheed Wallace 41 Techs in one Season will never be broken, they are not even close after they changed the rule and made it easier for players to reach that

In the 72-73 season, Nate Tiny Archibald led the league in both points and assists. LeBron is the only one that comes to mind that can come close to matching that feat.

That's one a lot of people forget about. I'm not sure that one will happen again anytime soon.

How about AC Green streak of 1192 consecutive games played?

Or the Ice Man scoring 33 points in a quarter?

At first I thought I read the title as "Records You Think Nick Foles Will Break".

Also John Stockton's assists totals might never be surpassed.

I don't think a record that two people share is "unbreakable"

I think you can break 55 rebound by intentional miss on a fast break.

Andrew Bynum for being the youngest basketball player to play in an NBA game!

Okay... so it's easier to score today than it was back in the day, but no-one will ever score more than 100 in a game, a record that was set... back in the day. I think I got it...

I think someone will get extremely close one day, but I can't picture someone getting a double triple double like Wilt did in 1968.

Feb. 2, 1968. 25 points, 22 rebounds, 21 assists.

Some records are hard to contend. Even if they are broken the argument will turn to "its not apples to apples. For example.. 72 win season. What if the NBA plays more games in a season? That can easily be challenged for the amount of wins in a season if they play more games.

100pt game. What if the league changes to longer games? Easily can be challenged.

Too any variables between era, game rule changes and players.

We already do it today. We contend that it was tougher to score in the the hand checking era so we refuse to recognize todays feats. We contend that previous eras didnt have the medicine, technology or rules that help stats look better today.

Actually Kobe's 81 points is close. Do I expect to see anyone break it, no but did I also expect to see an 81 point game. No

Also didn't David Robinson score 71 in a game?

This is the individual record over a season that I think will never be broken. A lot of the top assist guys could get the points if they had to, but they are not going to do it in the modern era.

No one surpasses Tiny, and I hope he is enjoying his 40th anniversary of this feat.

I just read that to break John Stockton's assist record, one would have to play 19 full seasons and record over 10 assists per game. Now that's crazy.

I agree, Kobe's performance was one for the ages. Pretty amazing stuff.

I was looking at most points in a single game on NBA reference, but they only show from 84 on, but I thought this was interesting.

Since 84 Kobe has 4 of the top 8 scoring performances.

Obviously lots of players before 84 put up huge numbers, but it's a much different game now, and it's harder for a single player to dominate offensively like that now, then it was in the 60's.

Also, Kobe had that 62-point game where where he only played 33 minutes!

You just don't see huge games like that anymore. Maybe once a season someone hits 50, but it seems like it's getting less frequent

81 is not close. 96, 97? That's close. 19 points is a great half for most players, not close. Robinson scored 71 to win the scoring title, which is also impressive, but there's a big difference between that or 81 and 100 points.
