Default Ebay's new seller protection policy....just lip service or will it help?

Was wondering what some of my fellow ebay sellers' opinions are on the new Ebay seller protection policy unveiled by Ebay. It's a step in the right direction, but until they hire people with specialized knowledge in each ebay category to rule on disputes, we are still at the mercy of buyers.

Seller Protection

ebay is a joke, i can't remember the last time anything they did was an improvement. and the term "ebay seller protection" is an oxymoron. sellers on ebay just have to pray they don't get screwed. prayer is all they have

Ebay seller protection has helped me in two instances. You have to follow the rules to the letter though.

Could you please tell us your experiences with some some details? I'm just intersted to hear how.

Honestly, we have had good experiences with Ebay Seller Protection.

Our rep has taken care of us before, like anyone we have had a bad experience, but overall we have been very pleased.

One person claimed that a package I sent with DC didn't make it to his house. Now this certainly can happen. However, this buyer had a history of very odd feedback to other buyers claiming the same thing. Because I shipped with DC, I got to keep my money. Also, the negative feedback that he put on my profile was removed. I think that the buyer got a refund (in other words, ebay ate the costs).

Another person submitted a credit card chargeback as soon as my package was sent out. Again, I shipped with DC confirmation, and I got to keep my money.

So if you always ship with DC, use sig confirmation for items over 250, and ship promptly to confirmed paypal addresses, you are generally safe. Buyers can always do shady things (claim you shipped an empty package, etc.), and I am not sure what ebay would do in those situations. Also, overseas shipping is a different matter.
