Default Who are some star players that missed entire seasons?

I was talking with a friend the other day and we were trying to think of some and drew a blank.

Obviously this is Derrick Rose related, but that's not the direction I'm looking for this to go.

I'm just wondering who some NBA stars were that missed an entire season, meaning played 0 games?

Aah, just looked that up. So he missed the full 85-86 season with a torn ACL .

Amare Stoudemire only played 3 games in 05-06. Pretty close to a full season.

Didn't Grant Hill miss most if not all of 2003-04 season?

Looks like you're correct! Forgot about him.

Also forgot about Griffin, but I think that's because he hadn't played any NBA games yet, I didn't even think of it.

I actually saw Oden play in high school. Dude was a beast and 40 years old.

Amazing how fast a career can be over before it ever starts

Didn't David Robinson miss a whole season which lead to Spurs getting Duncan #1?

Jordan missed 60 or so in his 2nd or 3rd season. I think he broke a foot bone or something.

The Legend only played 6 games in 88-89 because he threw his back out (paving his driveway himself I believe)

Ha, that is awesome actually.

It very much fits with my image of Larry Bird too for some reason.

It would be like Karl Malone or something missing a season because he was up fixing his roof and fell off

Jordan was also serving a suspension, I mean, he played baseball for a season and a half.

Oh gosh.

That reminds me of one time at work.

I work at a school as a director for an after school program with kids between kindergarten and 4th grade. I was working with an older woman one day who was just a miserable person, had no business working with kids.

Anyways, it was right around the time of Jordan's birthday and one of the 1st graders was asking me about Jordan which I was more than happy to talk about. Well in the middle of me talking about Jordan this woman interrupts and throws this out there.
"You know, there's a lot of people to think his father was murdered because of Michael's gambling debts"

I didn't even know what to say to her. I mean why say that in front of a kid? I quickly changed the subject, but what the hell was she thinking.

I am 80% sure he left the NBA to simply play baseball and leave on top. What changed my mind was on the day he came back into the league, Richard Dumas returned to the league after serving a suspension for drugs. He and Richard last played in the finals of the Bulls and the Suns. Dumas was an incredible dunker. They both came back to the league on the same day. The White Sox were owned by the Bulls owner and Jordan but sent to the Barons who were a little high for his talent level. Around the same time, baseball banned Rose. The WWF suspended Hogan for drugs and it hurt both organizations. (No, wrestling is not a sport). I don't think his Dad's death had anything to do with his gambling. I think Jordan could have been suspended in a way that would not hurt his image or the league. We will never know. Maybe this would make a good conspiracy movie someday.
