Congtulations To Mr BlackMamba!
Wow! What a milestone.
It just seemed like yesterday that he is just a rookie!
Definitely could catch Michael Jordan next season.

Congrats to Kobe......clearly isn't an easy feat to do what he did....I'm wondering where he ends up all time. I'm sure he passes Jordan. Not sure about Malone and Kareem.

In a cutthroat one on one tournament? Agreed. Starting a team from scratch and trusting him to take you all the way? No.

Umm... no... IMO, he isn't even the 2nd best Laker of all time. I still think Kareem and Magic are better.

Congrats to Kobe , I think he has a decent shot at jabber . He doesn't seem to be slowing down. Amazing what he is doing at his age.

Kobe will pass MJ in scoring and still not be close to his legacy (outside of LA, that is). Still, an awesome achievement.

Kobe is one of the best pure scorers ever.

He is going to need more accomplishments then a high total points total though to be the second greatest player ever. He has some ways to go.

I believe that IMO means "IN MY OPINION"...

Last I checked, nobody on this forum is a pro basketball player, so maybe we should all just shut the #@#@#@#@ up.

Does anyone have a shoot count or minute count on how long it took people to get to the scoring totals they reached. That would be interesting to see. I'm assuming Wilt shot the highest percentage of anyone over 30k.

Pretty amazing list of achievements for Mr. Bryant.

4th All Time-Scoring
3rd All Time Playoff Scoring
15-Time All-Star
10-Time All-NBA First Team
9-Time All Densive First Team (Whoever mention him as a pure scorer forgot he used to be a hell of a defender!)
5-Championship Rings
2-Finals MVP Awards

Amazing career and he's still going!

I posted a minute count on 20,000 points the other day for Kobe, Lebron, and MJ, let me see if I can find that

here's what I had for Jordan, Kobe and Lebron reaching 20k
Quote:
I was curious, so I crunched some numbers.

Kobe reached 20,000 points in 29,374 minutes of playing time
Lebron reached 20,000 points in 28,916 minutes of playing time.

So essentially Lebron beat Kobe by 458 minutes or at 38 minutes a game, 12 games.

Pretty amazing how close they were together when breaking it down that way.

For reference sake, Jordan did it in 23,992 minutes. So at 38 minutes a game, he beat those other guys by about 130 games!

Well I'm positive you are referring to me (surprise surprise)

And no I did not forget how Kobe at times of his career was a very good defender. But as this thread is about his offensive game (mainly scoring a lot of points) I was commenting on his play of the offensive side of the ball.

Kobe will go down as a volume scorer on the offensive end. He will be known for his pure scoring ability, not his overall offensive presence or being a distributor and passer.

I only saw Kareem at the tail end of his career but he's better than Magic and played about 6 years longer than Magic with bigger body of work.

While you might be right about him going down as that, it would certainly be a shame.

I feel Kobe is incredibly underrated when it comes to passing
Kobe Bryant Passing Clinic - YouTube

He is absolutely incredible at driving, drawing a second defender, going up in the air and when the defender commits, fining an open cutter. He has incredible vision in crowds like that.

If he only goes down as a volume shooter that would be a bit of a shame
