Default Kobe Bryant passes Wilt as 4th leading scorer all-time!

Pretty historical night as Kobe passed Wilt Chamberlain with a pull up jumper to move into 4th place on the all-time scoring list.

This guy just keeps going. If math serves me correct, if Kobe score 25 a game the rest of the way it will only take him like 35 more games to pass Jordan and move into 3rd.

Love him or hate him, the guy is amazing.

Great accomplishment. That's the only thing that I can say.

I think catching Kareem is a pipe dream unfortunately.

Just shows how impressive Kareem's record is.

If averaging 25 points a game, Kobe would have to play 278 more games

If playing 78 games a season that's about three and a half more seasons. It's possible, but very unlikely.

Kareem's record should be safe unless Kobe decides to stick around for extra years just to break it, which I think would be a detriment to his legacy.

not necessarily, if the lakers are relevant and kobe is putting up 20-25 a game, i dont think it would hurt his legacy. some say jordan hurt his legacy, but when you look at his stats, especially for his age, he was still producing. he just couldnt lead the wizards to the playoffs like he hoped.

Bah, crappy picture but I thought I'd share my first Kobe auto! Got this as a gift from my parents when I was young. The COA says it was signed in august of 1997 so it's pretty old!

Anybody know a good time to sell this after it comes back from grading? I have never been a kobe fan really but if he can take the lakers from a rough start to the championship then he has changed my mind!
Sorry for the horrible pic legacy /99:

Am assuming Kobe will slow down a little bit because of father time. I am a Lakers fan, but think it is going to happen.

Honestly, it's never really a bad time to sell Kobe. He's cemented his legacy (pun intended) so it's not like some good games or a playoff run is really going to up the value that much. Just put it up as a BIN OBO and wait til you get an offer you like

While I hope the Lakers fail this year and I'm sad that Wilt was passed, credit to a superstar player in Kobe and congratulations to him as well.
I'm sure Jordan will be pissed if he gets passed, but if he hadn't done his baseball/retirement thing.....

Classy post by an obvious non-Laker fan!

Kobe should pass MJ next season, but I don't think he will pass Kareem or Malone.

Karl!

By the way, this is a great site for lots of all-time leaders. Includes active player lists, all-time. Leaders by season...pretty much everything

NBA & ABA Leaders and Records | Basketball-Reference.com

not updated with Kobe passing Wilt, but I'm sure tomorrow it will be

Thanks!

I better do more studying... and get off BO for a little bit. Thanks for the link, i'll do some searching there.

EDIT: Ooooh, that site... i've been here before, but thanks though. I only used that site to search by the player. I guess we can search by team and so on... never tried that.
