Default Shilling causes people to believe their cards are worth more then they are.

They also make sure that the other "legit" seller couldn't sell their cards. If there is one buyer really wants to buy it, it must go through this guy.

Lets hope no one is that stupid to buy it at that price...

How do we know for sure that samjsports pumped that one though? I understand it happens, I do, but it's also kind of surprising to me that some just don't understand why exquisite cards of stars such as MJ, Lebron and Kobe have gone up in value. The price of what something is worth is determined by 2 things.

1. What someone is willing to pay for it.

2. Availablity. Supply and demand in other words. The less you see something come up for sale, the more collectors will pay when they finally see it come up for sale.

samjsports = Relisted everything he "Sold" a few months ago, all his stuff sells for record prices. Another worthless seller

I know the Lebron collectors.. No one would touch it after 1000$ if even 1000$.
I buy his stuff up all of the time and have a general idea on what prices are.
You are telling me someone is going to pay 2000$ for a LeBron SS? Not a chance in hell.

Thank you Mr. Hand I don't need any lessons in what determines the value of an item.
I collect exquisite LBJ and Jordan. I am not shocked at the rise in prices from 6 months ago but to go for a double.. I don't think so not to mention the stated facts via Tristan.

....One of the biggest Lebron collectors who is in China just bought a lebron auto patch /100 for a $1,000 from me 2 weeks ago bud lol. It was not a "pumping auction", it was BIN or BO, just a lebron exquisite collector in China who felt that's what it was worth to him. Again, YOU wouldn't pay that, but that doesn't mean others wouldn't. The market is not determined by only what you think something is worth. You can't speak for all

I don't know the seller personally, nor did I know what you've just stated above. But to say every-single-lebron, MJ, kobe exquisite-sale-is-fake? No lol. I'm not saying you say they are, but I'm talking about others who are saying it.

Great! That's amazing for you.
I am guilty of overpaying for something I want as well within reason.
You are right I don't determine the market and what I think is for myself.
What I can say is based off of facts and records this card was shilled and never sold. In turn others think their cards are worth much more then they really are and at that PP it will never actually sell.
Which was the whole point of the thread in the first place.

I have to disagree with you here Tristan. I don't think that he is Shilling this particular auction in question. Although I do agree that some sellers may pump other sellers stuff up to attract higher prices to their own auctions, I don't think it is the case here. I am an avid Exquisite 2003-04 set follower and I have noticed a few recent auctions that may suggest a couple things (Click the links below). First, these two gentlemen either are very serious about completing a set (which I would like to believe) or they are pumping prices deliberately to drive the perceived values up. If you take a close look you will notice there are actually several high bidders besides the auction winner suggesting that people really want these cards at the moment. Once these buyer(s) make their purchases then overall market prices will return to lower levels.

Names in question: b***n (371) & n***e (private)

MAGIC JOHNSON: eBay.com Item Bid History

Sometimes new collectors with no idea of actual values and deep pockets come in and actually win these cards for the record prices and that messes everything up.

Dollar is weak and a lot of people becoming really rich oversea. So $1000 card is probably just playing money for them.

This explains what happened to my Devin Harris Silo...all of a sudden some (0) feedback bidder comes along and outbids everyone...still hasn't paid, and now my card goes unsold and I can't relist it till the case is closed.

In the meantime the few people who wanted the card sell theirs at an optimum price-point...I seen another guy has relisted his after he had supposedly sold it as well...it is that Alexandro or whatever his name is

Its getting a little out of hand
