This seems especially true with basketball collectors and PANINI products. All is takes is 1 idiot, 1 really rich guy, or a whole bunch of morons to hit the BIN at crazy prices, shill everything up, post on the every bard about these amazing prices. Many times, someone will hit a decent player, post it on here, ask what they should list it for, disagree with what everyone says, then list it - 10 days later, auction ends at a high price, week later they post "what do I do if someone doesn't pay?" they wait another week for NPB, then realist - REAL buyers think it's shady, hype wears off, and it's a month later, lucky to get 50% of original sale price. LOVE IT!!!!!

Some are nice, but alot will be relisted. Wait for it.

Why are you guys buying up cases and just flipping them for profit? I mean bust it already. Or let true collectors open them up.
It really kills the hobby when so many products are just "boxed".

And it's Panini, as I've mentioned before case prices have little relation to sales prices...

The puregreen and pepsiporch hype train certainly is steaming along...

So is j***9 (279) the id of either of you? That one is on all of the rookie patches I just browsed. Either happens to be going for them all or just pumping them up...
Plus the old 0 feedback - 1***3 is on a few.

Hype train keep on chugging

anyone who thinks a Kyrie is legitimately a $5,000 card is out of their skulls.

( ) sustainable

i will admit the hype train is big with this one, but they are hardly true rookie cards.... not to mention what we saw with last years release.

Not me, I have higher feedback then that. I'm getting my EBAY purple star next month! I think 90% of the cards and sales went through. negative pessimists.

I bet it is, just look at his Prizm Gold #/10's, they sell for over $5,000.00 (no Patch or on card auto). China and Japan have lots of cash!!! Kyrie is an All-Star already and thanks to Uncle Drew, he is well liked by the public. I would never pay more then $1,500.00 for a Kyrie myself, but then again, I'm not a huge fan (due to his vast amount of injuries and non above the rim play, aka ESPN top 10's like Griffin always use to get).

It's funny you can find out how good a product is by reading boards here

I mean select gold hot rookies kyrie gold sold for $2k

But known of you guys questioned that .

I mean the haters are here .

I guess angry gorilla and Cookie Monster if you put doubt out there it probably works .

I base what I buy on wax how much it would cost me to open . If I Opened 3-4 boxes and pulled a faried prime I would be pumped . I mean to see it sell for the price of 3-4 boxes is out of the question .

These cards are beautiful! You guys think these prices will hold up? I'm just wondering if they hold when treasures comes out. If kyrie prime/25 sells for 3k++ then treasures should be crazy.

No. Google "Pump and Dump", that's what is happening here.

i dont think they will over the long haul for some of the scrub players. most of panini's hoops products haven't been that great this year except for prizm, preferred, and NT(eventually). if everybody wants a nice huge patch/auto then preferred and NT will be the only options, so i could see these holding up with near 200 in total of the RPA(including NT). lots of demand and little supply.

Default crazy is the right word

I like the preferred silhouette rookie primes, but I do think that those prices are literally crazy. I'd rather wait a few weeks or months until prices are less than half of that.

I also feel that there is some manipulation behind these.

Just a hunch.

Someone could have an account and bid up/win the majority of these on eBay.

They're sitting on a bunch of sealed cases.

They drive the prices up on a bunch of singles, then you have some legit sales mixed in from player collectors who are impatient and essentially get extorted because they panic.

Then you have a week or two period where those cards magically do not get paid for.

Before you know it, they are re-listed ... a few true buyers have overpaid severely for theirs, and case prices skyrocket as a result.

It is, classic pump & dump ... all due to people's impatience and reliance on eBay for financial, statistical data.

I tend to agree the more I think about it. Faried sold for almost $800. You can get a Steph Curry NT for less than that. Crazy

im a bit confused by this, as the range of Kyrie select gold autos and auto/patches has been between 1500 (recently sold on ebay by lb_sa) and 2500. i personally think the best rookie autos to date are the select gold on card autos, but im just a caveman who finds your world scary and confusing.

i agree with your point on the strength of the international markets (even though the majority of Japan's cash is fueled by massive debt, but thats a discussion for another day ). However, it seems like a lot of people are forgetting that we still have NT coming out this summer. There's plenty of opportunity to cash in on the silo prime rc's while the product's hot, but I will be curious to see how they hold up in the longer term. regardless, they are very, very good looking cards.

For the record, the Drummond I sold was paid for and shipped out yesterday, so one of those big sales you are questioning is absolutely a real sale. I also sold a Andrew Nicholson for $125 that was paid for right away, not a crazy price, but high for a player like Nicholson (and I live in Central Florida and am a Magic fan)

Its been two years since collectors had cards of this high quality, thats a lot of time to save for a release like this.

Also like someone else said, $5k for a Kyrie patch auto is crazy, but its the cost of 2.5 cases. The odds on pulling any singular rookie patch is WELL WELL WELL above 1:2.5 cases, so when you consider that maybe $5k isn't too crazy. Cases are averaging 2 prime silhouettes from what I have seen, and there are (I think) 300? different subjects
