Default '86 Fleer graded pack

I've been looking at some graded 86 Fleer packs and was wondering what the thoughts were from the forum about these? Would you bust one if you had it? I know with people buying them and busting right away their might be a premium on graded packs. What do you think?

If you are looking to buy and bust an 86-87 Fleer pack I would recommend waiting for BBCExchange.com to get them in stock, ungraded. They are very reputable for vintage unopened and do not sequence search the fleer basketball.

1986-87 Fleer basketball follow a very predictable sequence. 9/10 times you can tell if an MJ is in the pack based on the card showing through the wax on top. Chances are, if a pack was sent to PSA the owner was 90% certain there was no MJ in there. Even if you went the bbce route, at $400-425/pack there is very little chance you break even unless you pull a Gem HOF rookie or one of the very few low pop 10 commons.

Lets find a box for 15k and do a group rip!

Speaking of older unopened, I am looking at a box of 80-81 topps. Bird Magic RC. Group rip?

That's what I've seen with the Fleer packs, usually searched or resealed but that's why I think a graded pack will be at a premium after some time since people have been ripping these packs.
I've heard the 80-81 is very undervalued and can get a lot of good cards out of it for less risk.

You are 100% safe getting 86-87 Fleer through BBCExchange when they have them. The owner is the same person that works with PSA for pack grading so resealed is never an issue and they are a very honest company, no sequence searching. Any other source would be VERY risky. Graded, while at a premium, would be best to keep sealed since chances at a Jordan and much less.

80-81 run about $60/pack. Bird/Magic is the draw but there are some great low pop cards in there for registry builders and a few other bird/magic rookie year cards. Boxes are really dried up. Even finding a few packs is getting tough. I opened about 6 packs last year with no luck.

i busted a pack of this a few years ago and its not worth it. most of the cards are in nrmt condition and you basically have to pull an MJ, top rookie/sticker or Gem Mint card to get any value back. I forget what i paid, and the rush was great... for 22 seconds, lol, but I don't recommend it unless you are doign it as a pure collector and would have fun no matter what happens.

If you guys go to the National, Steve and the guys at BBCE will typically have some. I was in Chicago a couple of years ago and they had a new box that they sold packs from. I think there were 2 or 3 Jordan's pulled. Steve also had a special that he would take the Jordan's over to PSA and have them graded. Great guy and alot of fun seeing those packs get opened.

I was at the National last year in Baltimore and saw about 15 packs get ripped. Glad I wasn't doing the ripping but man was it fun to watch. Steve is great and that is the only place i would risk getting a pack from. That said, check above, the 22 sec high is coming at a steep price.

That's pretty crazy. The jordan is really the only card that would make buying a pack worthwhile. Other cards could be worth that much if you can get a 9.5 grade or better which is difficult as well.

This could happen to you if you buy 86 fleer packs looking for an MJ

Yeah and heard on the radio, someone gave him the money he lost and an x-box. Can't remember the organization though

As far as OP, I'd buy reputable un-opened if busting, doubt much comes from graded in terms of Jordan XRC

I would under no circumstances open it. You will more than likely pull an off center MJ sticker with a wax stain and maybe another OC HOF RC. That is an awesome piece slabbed as it is.

Why buy this? You can get a BGS7.5 Jordan for around $550.
