Default Kobe, Panini America Make Hobby History with “Vino” Autos in National Treasures

Kobe, Panini America Make Hobby History with “Vino” Autos in National Treasures
Jul 20th 2013, 17:05, by Tracy Hackler

With a simple 14-word Tweet that included a hash tag heard ’round the world, the incomparable Kobe Bryant uncorked his newest nickname. The meaning-filled moniker, “Vino,” was given to Bryant by a mystery friend to imply that Bryant, like fine wine, is only getting better with age.
As a result, so is 2012-13 National Treasures Basketball.
Omg . My man just gave me a new nickname and I love it! Ha #vino
— Kobe Bryant (@kobebryant) March 1, 2013
Earlier this week, Panini America’s Brian Bayne sat down with Bryant for a 2012-13 National Treasures Basketball signing session. In the process, the duo ended up making hobby history. Among the stunning array of cards Bryant signed were 49 Notable Nicknames. Bryant signed some with his familiar “Black Mamba” inscription. On the others, and at the urging of Bayne, he inscribed the new nickname, “Vino,” for the first time ever.
The handcrafted history-makers will provide 2012-13 National Treasures Basketball with yet more stunning inclusions when the product releases July 31. In the gallery below, we showcase Bryant’s Notable Nicknames, along with the jaw-dropping array of other cards Bryant signed earlier this week.
Enjoy, and stay tuned to The Knight’s Lance for continued coverage of 2012-13 National Treasures Basketball.

Wine.

Like fine wine, Kobe gets better with age. Or so he hopes. But basketball players are not wine.

don't get the "history" part of this....

don't get why all the sets within NT this year are bland, with a white background. they pretty much all look the same. we should pitch in a few more hundred per case to get Panini a color printer, and hire the blowout custom pros to help with designs?

glad to see Kobe probably won't be a redemption though!

Kobe getting older with age like wine. Not what I think, just quoting the article.

I don't understand how this is 'making history.' He signed them 'vino', big deal.

Not going to lie, those Kobe cards are very nice.

I have always called Kobe the Black Vino.

Why is this news?

Hahaha. Awesome. Panini sure does love to hype their products. Next it will be "Panini and Kobe make hobby history with purple ink autographs."

That dude tries way to hard, how can anyone take him serious when he has to create fake names to pump every single product Panini puts out.
And it seems that he is not the sharpest tool in the shed.
