Default The Flawless Dry Up Theory Thread

Currently there are 2,160 Flawless ebay items being sold under the search "flawless basketball". Let's see how much this dries up and whether it actually affects prices as much as some people think. I will bump this in a few weeks and then again down the road but anyone who wants to put their predictions in here feel free.

You should also track the base at the same time. I expect the base may dry up faster than the rest of Flawless. Should be interesting to monitor.

Note: I currently see about 132 Flawless base on Ebay, which is 132/2000 = 6.6% of the total Flawless base.
Additional note: if there are 2160 total Flawless Ebay items, that is 2160/26000 = 8.3% of all of Flawless.

As such, at least at the current snapshot, the base appear to be less abundant on Ebay that the rest of Flawless.

how many "flawless basketball" cards are just people spamming though? It will probably only get worse...

I'm happy buying 'low end' autos out of Flawless right now on eBay because there are tons of listings and they are really reasonable IMHO, I've completely revamped my HOF/ 50 Greats PCs with Flawless cards for under $500. About 20 cards. Usually I wait for a product to cool down but this was just way too limited to hold off on and I thought the abundance of choices in the marketplace counteracted the 'hotness.' There's just something alluring about replacing sticker auto hall of famer cards I have with cards from the Flawless set.

I agree with you two, there have been great deals for collectors. Even the Adrian Dantley 1/1 went for under $50.

(80s stud avg over 30 ppg several times for you young Bucks, and was a workhorse at over 42 minutes per game some seasons Adrian Dantley NBA & ABA Stats | Basketball-Reference.com)

There are people on eBay keyword spamming Flawless to try and push their exquisites...... LOL! so be careful with the numbers, there may be a lot less currently up.

I say, just as a guesstimate, give it about a year or two time, and you should see less than half the current amount available , if not a lot less than that. I see most of these cards away in PC's to not see light for a very loooong time. I guess I can only speak for myself, and I can tell you I live these cards, and the ones I pick up will probably be buried with me when it's all said and done. I see this product as the best product ever, to date.... We shall see what the future holds for us. There is certainly plenty more room for amazing brands to come out. I like my collection diverse... So don't mind cherry picking here and there across all brands.

That being said......... :turkey:

I could be wrong but I believe I saw this card listed before with 'flawless' in the title and this was before Flawless from Panini was even released.

So flawless basketball will obviously pick up some spamming. I counted 10 pages of "flawless basketball", And found 20 items 4%. That included, non flawless cards, sealed case, and Kobe anthology card. Apply that 4% to the entire 2164 listed under "flawless basketball", that's about 86 listings. We also need to take into account the items that already sold of which there are 2850. Apply the same 4% that should take out 114 listings.

So that's ~4800 cards listed on eBay. About 18% of the print run. If you assume that another 10%-15% ( I sold 10% of my break on this forum) of the cards get sold on forums and such. That's another 2600-3900 cards.

7400-8700 total cards that have surfaced or about 28-33%. At the current case prices I don't see the availability of singles going up that much.

Not that your math is bad here but you have to factor in what % of the print run even make sit to ebay. I bet by Jan. 1, the ebay listings are under 2,000 and will only go down. It's hard to find stuff like Prizm Golds now. Granted that was a /10 w/o parallels but this product is too rare to be around 3,000 active listings for long IMO.
