I may see If I can get down to Indy for the possible Duke/Michigan match up. It would have to be a Friday Game.

I got a new ride, and that will cost me about 60 bucks in gas round trip.

Cant do Milwaukee this weekend. Spent like 1500 in the last week on splurginig, and a down payment on my ride.

Gordon's size, athleticism, and defensive abilities (Sporting News called him the National Defensive Player of the Year) would be the perfect kryptonite to McBuckets
Nope, no one has shown they can really stop McDermott. You play him tough and let him get his points. Your best bet is to overplay some of their other three point shooters a la Wragge and Manigat. You contest their shots. That's what Providence did and won, just one week after getting completely blown out in Omaha. And watch out for Gibbs, he is smart, makes sound decisions, and is dirty as they come. Make no mistake, Arizona should win, but if they go all out to stop McDermott, it would be a mistake. If those other guys get open looks especially threes, look out.

Hope Nebraska gets by Baylor and gets a shot at them first.

Well that's my point, that Gordon by himself will be enough to slow him down enough to win the game, we won't need to send any help that way.

You pretty much just described Arizona's defensive strategy, we run shooters off the 3 point line (one of the best 3 point defenses in the nation) and play a tight in your face man to man defense.

McDermett would get his, but he wouldn't get 30 points, he'd be closer to 18-22. And if you hold him to that many points in a tournament game against an elite team, I don't see them winning that game

Completely agree. They haven't been very impressive against tough opponents this year...at all.

I'm fading Ohio St. They will be a one and done (beat Dayton, narrowly, and lose to Cuse)

Craft is a decent PG, knock is he can't score, and Ohio St only has one guy that can score (Ross). They are cooked.

I saw something interesting last night about this matchup that has be taking Dayton.

I guess Dayton has been trying for years to get OSU to play them but for whatever reason OSU has refused.

Should give Dayton a little extra motivation to get that W

Zona, that is great info! Much appreciated...supports that notion that I think Ohio St will struggle in game 1

Ohio State can't shoot worth a crap; their offense is weak. Only chance to win games right now is through their defense. I think it's 50/50 on making it past Dayton then losing to Syracuse.

Here's a fun stat to chew on.........

The No. 1 per-possession defensive team in the country has won the title in nine of the past 11 seasons

I'll give you one guess who the #1 team is this year

I am going back and fourth with the West Region. I cant decide between Wisconsin, Arizona, Oklahoma St., and possibly even Creighton.

I've never understood this argument

We're fans, we're supposed to dream and look ahead, the players need to be focused on the game at hand and not look ahead, that's all that matters

Would love to hear your reasoning why the best defensive team in the nation, in the weakest region, with great guard play, a legit 7 footer, and the best defender in the nation wouldn't be in your top 6?

The only arguments I see on here against Arizona is that the conference is weak, would love to hear some legit basketball reasoning around these thoughts.

There are multiple things I could call out as to why we could get bounced early, but there are more reasons for a deep run possibility.

But I've never seen anyone give actual reasons why they don't like Arizona this year besides the "they're just not gonna go deep, the P12 sucks, blah blah blah"

How many of those teams have a better offense than Arizona? If Nick Johnson has a bad game and you guys shoot terrible at the FT line you guys won't have a chance.

Now we're talking, someone talking about actual basketball

Our FT shooting is my main concern, the offense doesn't worry me because it's good enough as our defenses will keep us in every game regardless, but the FT's do scare me.

The only thing that might help us in that regard is that our team numbers are pretty skewed from just how bad Gordon is and how bad Hollis-Jefferson was until about 6 weeks ago as they take a ton of free throws. We can take Gordon out on offense if needed to keep him away from being fouled.

But if you were to tell me nowp that we got bounced early, I'd bet a lot of money that it was the FT's that caused it
