Default How do you determine what to pay for 1/1?

Since there is nothing to go by for 1 of 1s especially jersey auto 1/1 or jersey 1/1 do you make up value based on what full jersey's have sold for and go from there? im curious because something these letterman cards sell for crazy amounts of money and not sure if it is just people chasing the set or crazy supercollectors out there. my question is how do you guys determine what price to offer on any 1/1 card of your dreams

my dream 1/1

Pay what you feel comfortable paying. As simple as that. If a seller has a price in mind and he doesn't need to sell it, he won't.

Agreed. If someone wants it more than me, then they will have to pay more than me. Kudos to them.

Just ask him on the forums. I wouldn't pay more than $2000 for that one.

Steer clear if I was you.

Compare the cards to similar hofers. Pricing wise I'd say 3-4k

Owner /seller is sportsitupcards from this forum

Yeah, with 1/1's, how does one price them.... Than add to that a unique piece of an amazing HOFer.

I saw the Wilt sell at auction for $3600, so I figured the Russell should be more. Waaaay older piece from the 60's rather than Wilt's 70's piece, and Russell was the better champion with 11 rings! Not to mention a warmups like that one, or that one, sold for $84,000 at a high end auction house.

Sure Wilt autos sell for more due to scarcity, and the fact he died in 1999 and only has two certified autos(not including the parallels). So auto wise, Wilt sells for more. Russell has many autos to date, with no stopping in sight.

But as far as game used material 1/1 card? Anyone's guess... I had a guy who sounded promising who was interested. We discussed everything I said here about the Wilt price, and he said he would get back to me...

You can feel free to shot me an offer if you'd like.

You're overvaluing it by at least 6k. Again, your card, so you can do what you'd like. If an MJ goes for $4k, I can assure you this Russell will not go for more.

My estimate would be 1.5-3K.

I'm just pricing it at 10k.... Best offer.

However, I don't think it's fair to compare it to MJ. How many jerseys of MJ out there? Now how many Russell warmups from the 1960's out there? It's very simple math.

Me personally, without owning either card, I would go with the Russell first... Not trying to hype it, it's my true feeling. It's too old and rare a piece.

Either way, I really don't care if it sells or not. I've actually had second thoughts about it. I stopped collecting 50 greatest after many years of collecting, to focus on my sixers pc. Too many projects at the same time = lots of money needed, and never completing any sets after many many years. So that's the only reason I ever considered selling this piece.

But I know if it ever did sell, I'd pretty much stop collecting 50 greatest for sure! This to me is a card to build a collection around. If it doesn't sell, who knows... I'd probably fall back in love with the chase. I'm still stuck in the middle if I should continue. It's been many years chasing them.

Whatever it sells for, it is a beautiful card. I'm sure both the seller and whoever buys it will be extremely pleased in the end.

I think anyone can appreciate this card for years! One of the few cards I never got tired of looking at. Still pleasing to the eyes... And to think of all the history? Truly a great card.

I know I'll most likely be sad to see it go, but at the same time it would free up cash for pix cards. As long as I get an amazing card for the pc with the money of this card, then I can live with that. If not, I know I will regret it if it sells. It's just that type of a card. Once I do take down the listing, it will probably just stay with me forever. And that wouldn't be a bad thing.

It's really not that big a deal... I wasn't advertising my card. It was brought up, and to respond, I told my opinion/feeling on the card, and situation.

Again, no biggie.
