So was I imagining the Spurs sweeping Memphis in the conference finals last season?

Hard to have upset in NBA playoff series. #8 seed team has to win 12 times against the better record teams in other to get to NBA finals. And most of those upsets require to have an injured player being out from the better team.

Second, NBA regular season is 82 games. It is a very credible indication on separating a very good team and an average team. Unless there is a major injury from the key player, a good team will get top seed.

Unless NBA changes to 29 regular season record (which means every game is important), OR they change to 3 game playoff series, I really don't see how a #8~#5 seed can advance all the way to Finals. So, NBA is very predictable to the point that only 6 teams can win it all. The rest of the 24 teams, they have no hope. Those 24 will win some series, but not all.

There's definitely less volatility than you find in other sports, notably the NHL where the Kings won from the eighth seed a few years ago and where finishing first overall is almost a guarantee that you're not winning the Cup.

A great NBA player can dominate a game more than an individual in any other sport (with the exception of a baseball pitcher who does it every five days), and that makes it tough for a team without a comparable star to win multiple series.

Because the same good teams are still good and better than the others. Weird. Who knows if it's actually rigged, though. Remember when the Braves won like 14 straight division titles?

Totally agree.

A quarterback only covers the offense. He can't control the defense. He needs teammate to defense

A NHL can have great goalie, but he can't score. He needs teammate to score.

A perfect game pitcher can cover one game, but he wouldn't throw another 110 pitches 2 nights later. He needs teammate to score run.

A NBA player can play 48 minutes on offense AND defense. He only needs teammate to stay around.

I like the fact that it's "predictable", that means that the majority of the time the best team wins. That is how it should be.

Or when the Pats won 3 out of 4 Super Bowls?

If the NBA is SOOO predictable....

I'd love the OP or anyone else to tell me EXACTLY what is going to happen next.

Because I don't know...

The West is so tough to pick because there's 7 legit teams.

The East was predicted in November who would be there.

Heat to win 3 in row, most likely.

but I'll be partying hard if the Spurs get a very deserved no. 5.

Not predictable at all. I'd like to see someone predict every playoff game... You cant!

This will probably be wrong and you would look like a fool because its so predictable right?

But anyway Good teams rise to the top and are just better and deserve to be there.

It seems like the second round this time is not as good as previous seasons. But from now on we got some interesting match ups.

I agree with the OP, I think of all the sports the NBA is the most predictable. Baseball anyone can get hot with the bat, football a big play can change a single game, hockey stuff happens all the time but basketball, to win a 7 game series there are much less fluke wins. With that being said I know exactly what will happen in the ECF/WCF

SPURS WIN
HEAT WIN

Now the Finals, I have no idea whcih is why it's gonna be great. Spurs had it last year in game 6, they blew it, lost a close game 7. This year the Heat are a little worse, no Mike Miller, everyone a year older, Spurs got home court and some new role players... totally up in the air.

Spurs will win it all. Hopefully it'll be a fairly called series....so tired of stupid calls.
