Default Panini Replacement - pretty fair I believe

So, I have been waiting for close to 3 years for this Marc Gasol redemption and finally gave up and asked for a replacement back in December. I got a response back saying it has been replaced. I believe it is fair replacement.

Redemption card was for : 11-12 Limited Marc Gasol Jumbo Jersey Numbers Signatures #'d to 25 - I don't think he ever signs, very rare to find his auto so I really wanted to get this, especially with a prime patch.

Replacement will be: 12-13 Immaculate James Harden Immaculate Inscriptions #'d to 99

Overall, I think I got a higher value card. Appearance wise, I would rather have the Jumbo Jersey Numbers Signatures, but I am just glad to finally get something for it.

Thoughts?

I think I would be happy with that deal. Sometimes people get royally screwed over by their replacements.

You waited quite a while for that redemption, but I think you got a great replacement. I recently emailed David Sharp about some replacements for redemptions that were 6 months to a year waiting. Hopefully I get some nice replacements too. I guess I can't expect my Marc Gasol redemption for a jersey auto #d/25 that I just pulled from the Remix boxes.

That was an upgrade, IMO.

I was happy with the replacement I got......a Court Kings Kevin McHale jersey/auto #'d/20 in place of a Hoops Dion Waiters RC auto.

I was originally told that they are 6-8 weeks behind on getting to people's request for a replacement, but mine ended up being closer to 12 weeks since that email they sent me.

Thanks everyone for their input, now just got to hope it arrives in good condition!

Wow,
Thanks for the education! I had no idea his autographs were so expensive. Not a huge hoops fan, but I know he isn't all that great... So, why the price, simply because he doesn't have anything out there?

They have the beautiful stickers, guess they just don't want to use them:

Marc Gasol Grizzlies Panini Threads RARE Auto Autograph 11 24 | eBay

OR

In typical Panini fashion, they are building up the hype on worthless autographs, which can be offered as replacements b/c they are "so valuable" and will then flood the market - give it time, it'll happen. People paying $75 for a redemption and get a $11 card in return, 2 1/2 years later.

1. I think Marc Gasol is the best, most well-rounded center in the game right now. He's the biggest reason why the Grizzlies are number 3 in the league.
2. He has only a handful of autographs in the market.
3. Although I never regarded Spanish fans as super into cards (see Pau prices), he does have some European following to buoy his prices.

Here's my only Gasol:

As of December 2014, I was told I am "in the queue" for replacements. 118 days later, I have received little more than nothing. Wait, yeah, n-o-t-h-i-n-g at all...

15 weeks is about 1 day in Panini time. Try 36 months!

So does Panini make cards thinking they will one day sign X player to a contract and get him to sign?

or

Does Panini sign a contract with the player, produce the cards, and then the player reneges on the contract?

(reneges/ or keeps rescheduling to the point of exhaustion)

I would think the latter.

Because Panini has the agreement for the NBA they can produce any autograph for players that are not already exempt from the agreement (Lebron) and ask them to sign. It is not like how it used to be where Topps or UD would tell a player they will pay them $x per card signed and they have a contract for it. However we as collectors take it in the rear because panini does not care as long as their checklist looks good even if that means we never get to see those cards
