Played way too many good games to narrow it to one.
However, a recent favorite has to be Left 4 Dead.

A classic SNES game that probably doesn't get the recognition it should, but it's a favorite of mine: Shadowrun. Great game that mixed RPG gameplay with a shooting element. Very well done, but a little too short of a game.
So many games that I love over the years, really hard to pick just one. Getting expensive rebuying all the old SNES/NES games that I had as a kid.

Year in and year out its Madden. But i also fell in love with Mario bros for the Wii my nephew and i played for days and hours. We conquered the game and unlocked level nine. Went to play it and the disk must had gotten scratched so we never got to finish and the gsme still sells for $50 so never reinvested in a new one. This one gor Wii U looks awesome and i know we would play that

Eternal Darkness for the Nintendo Gamecube. That game is a mind-screwerupper. Bought it sight unseen, save for the descriptions that I had read. My wife and I played for about two weeks straight - she'd play when I was at work and vice versa. The cockroaches, the system getting us to think it had locked up or shut off (which worked once, aarrrghhhh!), the character's limbs just falling off - I wanted to play it to complete it, she wanted to just mess around and see what the Sanity Meter would offer once depleted. Such a novel idea from any game company; I'm really surprised I haven't seen anything like it since, and the game is about ten years old now.
From what I understand, to fully complete the game, you need to beat it in all three magick categories....we still haven't beaten the first one we tried, although we did get to the end boss. However, it's been a while since we've played - I think we're going to start all the way over, as soon as I can get out of the phase of trying every last path in Telltale's The Walking Dead.

My favorite video game was Final Fantasy VII. Easily one of the most addictive games of all time. I lost many a night to that game, and never regretted it. The side quests were awesome and engrossing. I could not beat the game until I had completed every quest and side quest.
