Monday Market Report: Here's what you need to know:
UD is on a roll with 3 high end products that are all in demand. 2011/12 Fleer Retro Bskt, 2011/12 UD The Cup HK and 2011 UD Exquisite FB. Fleer Retro and Cup HK continue to dominate the high end market in both sports. The new trend may be to release the high end products during the off season while collectors are anticipating the new season ahead. Not sure how much more upside there is at current levels in the short term but prices should take another jump once the products dry up. Be sure to check out Blowoutcards-The Fantastic Store in Chantilly, Virginia for all current Upper Deck Releases as well as exciting UD in store promotions.

2012 Topps Triple Threads Baseball will be the main release this week. Last Years TT was a huge winner with Boxes currently in the $260-$275 range. This years product was extremely allocated and has been sold out at Topps for several months now. Keep an eye on the early breaks to see if the content is as good as last years. Market seems to be around the $210 range for boxes.
Seeing a lot of buying in 2011/12 Panini Prime Hockey. This product is loaded with Box hits that could easily be Case hits in most products. Have a feeling that in the next few months, collectors will look back and realize how loaded this product is. This one is going to run higher.
Seeing a lot of requests for 2011 Bowman Draft & 2011 Bowman Sterling BB. Both are absolutely loaded with the next wave of prospects. Also seeing alot of buying in Bowman Platinum from 2010-2012. The Bowman Platinum product line has made a significant jump in collectors minds this year. In years past, it was always considered a middle of the road prospect product. Not quite the value of Bowman Draft or Bowman Chrome and not as desirable as the high end Bowman Sterling.... but this year, something clicked and collectors began to chase Bowman Platinum. You can also start to see this happening with the Topps Pro Debut and Heritage Minor league lines. It's taking a few years to catch on but collectors are going back to the 2010 products now that the prospects are coming up and are also realizing the potential of future products such as the 2012's that are out now. The market is constantly changing and collectors can't get enough of the prospect loaded products.
Keep an eye on 2011 Elite Extra Ed. BB. This one is a sleeper and has a lot of upside similar to 2011 Bowman Draft.
Starting to see the following Baseball products on the move:
2010 Bowman Chrome BB
2011 Topps Tier One BB
2008-2011 Topps Allen & Ginter BB
2011 Panini Prime Cuts BB
2010-2012 Bowman Jumbo BB
Football has been on fire for a while now and it continues into week 2 of the season. Almost every 2012 product is in high demand. RG3 & Luck both have done more than enough in 2 weeks to keep collectors believing in 2012. The Topps products continue to sell well upon release. Collectors are still buying a ton of 2011 FB. The best values currently seem to be the Panini products in 2011 (Prime Sigs, Gold Standard, Absolute mem, Gridiron Gear, Rookie & Stars, Contenders ect.). Eventually these will all start to move higher in the coming weeks and we could then see a shift towards the Topps products that are more difficult to find and priced higher due to the run they had last year (Finest, Topps Chrome, 5 star, Platinum, Prime ect).
Seeing a lot more interest in 2008 and 2005 FB and either could take a big jump in the coming weeks based on performance. Collectors are not ready to go "all in" yet until they see M.Ryan, Flacco ect keep up their play week in and week out.
Alex Smith is starting to get some Hobby love. 2005 is no longer a A.Rodgers all or nothing type of year.
2012 seems better than expected. The 2012 Market could have easily been a dead year with all the hype on the 2 QB's. It's a crap shoot every year but collectors seem to think that RG3 and Luck are the real deal. It's a good sign for the future value of 2012 products.
I still feel strongly about the 2011 Rookie class. There are too many playmakers and big time Rookies in 2011. Think of how well these guys will do over the next 5 years. Names like Cam, Daulton, Julio Jones, Locker,Ponder,AJ Green,Demarco,T.Smith,Ridley. Think of the next tier guys that haven't popped yet: Ingram, Gabbert,Kaepernick,Mallett,Leshoure,Cobb,Aldon Smith,Vereen,Powell,D.Carter,J,Rodgers,K.Hunter,G.Little,T.Young,R.Williams ect... 2011 is just loaded.
Seeing a lot of demand for the following Presells:
2012 Bowman Draft Picks & Prospects baseball
2012 Bowman Sterling Baseball
2012 Bowman Chrome Baseball
2012 Topps 5 star Baseball
2012 Leaf Metal Draft Baseball
2012 Topps Strata Football
2012 Panini Certified Football
2011/12 Panini Dominion Hockey
2012 Leaf ULTIMATE Golf
2012 Cryptozoic THE BIG BANG THEORY Season 3 & 4 Boosters
2012 Topps Star Wars Galactic Files
2012 CRYPTOZOIC THE WALKING DEAD SEASON 2
2012 Benchwarmer Vault
More to come...stay tuned
Thanks for the update Chris. It would be nice to see what the pre-sell market is like as well if you guys have the time.

i'd like to see that as well
Topps are allocating some of their 4th quarter products:
2012 Bowman Draft Picks & Prospects baseball jumbos
2012 Bowman Sterling Baseball
2012 Topps Triple Threads Baseball
2013 Topps Tribute Baseball
2012 Topps Triple Threads Football
Those are ones I can think of off the top of my head.
Seems to me the high-end Upper Deck product has peaked for now. The high-end Upper Deck products are trickling out the back door to a few distributors. The distributors need to buy the package deal of Marvel, Legends FB, and Sweet Shot FB to get a Exquiste FB for example. Case lots of Fleer Retro are being shopped by one distributor. Upper Deck as usual held some product back to cash in at market price. It also helps them move the less desirable inventory they still have. No surprise to hear this from my source. If you sit on some cases of high-end UD, you won't go wrong in the long run. It will dry up more in 3-6 months and price will rise accordingly.
Do you mean 2013 Tribute since 2012 is long gone?
So how Many cases Retro was produced??? Any Guesstimates???
you would have to ask richard mcwilliams at UD...then add the 25 cases he probably has stashed away in his garage.
