Blowoutcards Market Report: 01/23/13
The Market is HOT right now. This is the trend that we usually see this time of the year. Manufacturers tend to release less
products from Jan-April and older releases begin to surge back. We're seeing alot of presell buying in products across the board lead by the following: Baseball: 2013 Bowman Baseball Hobby & Jumbos 2013 Bowman Inception Baseball 2013 Topps Heritage Baseball 2013 Topps Series 1 Baseball Hobby & Jumbo 2012 Panini National Treasures Baseball Seeing a surge also in the higher end releases. If you take a look at 2012 prices, there's alot of upside as long as production and content remain similar or better. Collectors are starting to jump on these mid year releases. 2013 Topps Tier One Baseball 2013 Topps Tribute Baseball 2013 Topps Museum Collection Baseball 2013 Topps Allen & Ginter Baseball 2013 Bowman Platinum Baseball Football: 2012 Panini National Treasures Football 2012 Panini Prizm Football 2012 Topps Five Star Football 2012 Panini Contenders Football HK: 2012/13 In The Game ITG Motown Madness Hockey 2013 Leaf Best of Hockey As for the current market, it's all about 2011 FB products. Kaepernick has now surpassed Cam in single card values and is driving 2011 FB. A superbowl win will take 2011 products to a new level. 2011 FB was hot for most of the 2011 season and it started early with the 5 QB's (Cam,Locker,Daulton,Gabbert,Ponder). At the time, Kaepernick was not even on the radar. Even Mallett cards were selling for more. If you take a look at the Rookie class, 2011 has so much to offer including J.Jones,AJ Green,Cobb,Vereen,Ridley,Demarco,Ingram,Leshoure,Jaquizz. Because of the strong rookie class, alot of it was opened early and often and prices surged through the 2011 season. Then 2012 FB took over with RG3 and Luck and the attention shifted. Now as collectors look at a possible superBowl winner and a future superstar in Kaepernick, 2011 products probably will have tremendous upside over the next few years as products become more difficult to find. Take a look at the following: Dealers have been chasing 2011 FB products across the board for a few weeks now. Here's what's moving: 2011 Bowman Sterling Football 2011 Panini Absolute Memorabilia Football 2011 Panini Certified Football 2011 Panini Crown Royale Football 2011 Panini Gold Standard Football 2011 Panini Limited Football 2011 Panini Plates & Patches Football 2011 Panini Playbook Football 2011 Panini Prime Signatures Football 2011 Panini Timeless Treasures Football 2011 Panini Totally Certified Football 2011 Playoff Contenders Football 2011 Playoff National Treasures Football 2011 Topps Chrome Football 2011 Topps Finest Football 2011 Topps Five Star Football 2011 Topps Inception Football 2011 Topps Platinum Football 2011 Topps Prime Football 2011 Topps Supreme Football 2011 Topps Triple Threads Football Put some away now. Even if the 49ers do not win, the 2011 FB will still be in demand going into the 2013 FB season. If they do win....the sky's the limit on this rookie class. 2008 FB starting to heat up also. Flacco just doesn't get the same sort of Hobby love but if the Ravens do win, pricing should move up 10-20%. Remember that Ray Rice is also in this class. The following products are heating up and dealers are chasing these: 12/3 Panini Prizm Basketball Hobby & Retail 2012 Bowman Sterling Baseball 2012 Topps Chrome Football 2012 Topps Triple Threads Baseball 2012 Topps Strata Football 2012 Bowman Draft HTA Jumbo Baseball 2012 Bowman Draft Baseball 2012 Bowman Sterling Football 11/2 UD The Cup (Exquisite) Hockey 2012 Topps Triple Threads Football 2012 Bowman 1 Baseball Hobby & Jumbos 2012 Panini Momentum Football 2012 Topps Five Star Baseball 2012 Panini Certified Football 12/3 UD SP Game Used Hockey 11/2 Panini Gold Standard Basketball As for the new releases, this week we have: 2013 Historic Autographs The Art of Baseball 2012 Panini Elite Extra Edition Baseball Konami Yugioh Cosmo Blazer Booster Next week: 2013 Topps Series 1 Baseball Hobby & Jumbo 2012 Panini Prizm Football 2012/13 In The Game Heroes & Prospects Hockey 2012 Upper Deck SP Authentic Football We have a ton of NEW Promotions currently on the Blowoutcards Forums tied to the Superbowl. (And other cool stuff!) - Blowout Cards Forums[/URL] Some final thoughts: 1) Keep an eye on 2011 FB products 2) 2013 Topps 1 BB and 2012 Panini Prizm FB seem like they will be monster releases next week. 3) High end and prospect related Baseball products over the last 3 years are trending up and moving fast. Check your Bowman's,Bowman Drafts, Bowman Chrome, Triple THreads, Elite extras ect... 4) Hockey is starting to move but has not hit it's groove yet. We expect to see the high end start to move first such as Dominion, Cup and Prime. Remember that next years class with have double Rookies similar to 05/06 so the 12/13 year may be a pass for most collectors. This does make the ITG line look pretty good this year if you want 12/13 products. 5) FB is usually strong until the end of Feb and then the market shifts to Bskt and Baseball 6) 2012/13 Panini Prizm Bskt is a huge long term winner. The Gold's/Green's will be sought after for years to come. Stay Tuned...More to Come... |
