I'm in it for the long term. I buy silver because I find it a very fun hobby to be in.

I buy silver because why not? I mean the lowest I think it is ever going to go again is $17-18 (I hope this doesn't start a debate) and it is at $21 now. Putting money in other things. I only buy 3 oz of silver and 1 g of gold a quarter, so I'm not a big buyer at all. I just started.

Nothing wrong with that. Starting is better than not starting....

I buy and sell quite a bit of silver and a little bit of gold and anything that I do make I "invest" into my personal stash. Ive got a goal by years end and I cant believe how much silver has went thru my hands in the last 4 months.

Regarding metals, I'd thinking years (plural) is long term. Technically, it would be one year. If you are buying today in hopes that 20 years from now you will have a nest egg I would strongly encourage you to think otherwise.

Short term could be hours or days. Though most of the volatility is flushed out by traders who do it within milliseconds. Money can definitely be made in the short, though it isn't as easy as it once was. Volatility (the overall market) isn't what it was 10-15 years ago.

I don't even know how one would go about trading physical metals in minutes or hours.

I've got my money waiting on the deal and the ceiling raise. Should go close to $20 I think.

Well get rid of some of it while its highish lol 200 point jump in the stocks with the deal and nothing in the near future that should make silver rise. Already down 21 cents in overseas trading and will most likely go down more when the markets open tomorrow.

Yea if you have extra funds laying around just go ahead and buy some silver at that moment, instead of waiting to see if the prices would go lower.

Yeah I tend to buy when I feel like it lol Anything under 25 I'm cool with. Its not like 30 cents is gonna make a difference in the long run tho I do tend to buy more when its below 20 At least with silver when I buy it today it isnt worth half next month like cards lol

it's interesting isn't it...
if you see the price go UP, you say "cool, my stash just increased in value!"

if you see the price go DOWN, you say "cool, now I can add to my stash and bring my average cost down!"

win win...gotta love it

Nah i like the diversity lol My future is being put away for very heavily and cards have always been my passion since 1994. Its hard to give up something you love, especially when you dont have to Plus I dont want gold. Too overpriced in my opinion. Would rather have 5 Super nice Manning autos instead of an ounce of gold lol
