Default $100 Star Note Help!

well i was looking through some of my money and i found a Star Note $100, I have no idea what to look for but there is a slight crease in the middle from being folded, and a corner has a crease. You can also see some stain on it.
Is this Star note worth anything more than $100? i looked on ebay and they seem to bring $120+. How can you tell which mint it came from? Any info would be great!

In that condition it is worth FV. The Mints are where coins are Minted. The paper money comes from the US bureau of Engraving and printing. Federal Reserve Note - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The star represents that the bill was replaced.

If the sheet has an error the sheet of 32 bills is destroyed and a new one is printed with the same numbers along with the star. This is to maintain their inventory count.

L12 = San Francisco
B2 = face plate position
B336 = face plate number

This man knows his stuff. I use to own a full sheet of 32 star notes, a very rare piece, the only one I have seen in years.

Question for you, What happens if they screw up of the printing of the Star notes,do you think they just reprint those ones again, double star, or any other kind of notation? Always was wondering what would happen in that case.

May not be worth retirement, but definitely not a common bill.

Someone might be willing to pay $10-$15 over face or so just to get a $100 star into the collection. If you can sell in in-person locally worth a try. But not worth the headache if you have to sell through eBay or elsewhere online.

Wow i used to find these bills all the time when i was a kid. I knew they were something special, but I never knew what the star meant. this was very insightful.
I still kept a few star bills, but don't think i could keep a 100 without spending it lol

Spend it all ready. If it was crisp uncirculated then you could get more than face. As is its worth $100.00. Take it to your local coin shop they will tell you to spend it.
