Default Silver bar prices

Why are some so much more then others? Isn't 10oz of silver just 10oz of silver? I'm assuming because some or more rare then others. Apmex has a 5oz Engelhard bar that sells for over $200 and one for $350 then a 10oz bar that sells for $250-$265ish. Does anybody buy the more expensive type and are there any benefits of getting them?

Some brands have premiums and it's all really preference if you want to pay for those or not. I look for the best bang per buck or price per ounce for you don't always get those premiums back.

Some older bars are very collectible. I have a 100 gr. Engelhard that would sell for close to $1,000. Engelhard, JM, and Pamp are the main 3 bars that carry high premiums. But there are a lot more out there.

But if you are buying silver to invest in silver, stick to the cheapest bars you can find(not on Apmex, that is for sure), but you can get 10 oz bars for .79 cents over spot.

its just like sports cards its really simple
You have the king of cards topps chrome and then you have strata
just make a list of sports cards from best to worst then start the same list with silver and your top 3 are just like said above Engelhard, jm bullion, and pamp(their are others)
and you get to the middle of the road type silver and then flat generic silver
To me its all silver but to each his own

It's all about the premiums and how much you are willing to shell out above spot
