Default Need some help with SILVER

Hey guys, I never really dabbled in silver/gold, but I am looking to invest some money in Silver What would be the best way to purchase it, and what type should I be looking for? Would rather get one piece or something, but I dont know what is best. Have $1-2K to invest. Any help would be great thanks!

it doesn't matter whether you get gold or silver in my opinion. But it is the piece/pieces that you get is what is important. if you are serious I have a few things laying around
shoot me a message if you want

To the silver experts...are you paying a premium on engraved items vs. a poured bar. Just looking into Apmex and Engelhard, the prices vary some for similar weights, is that premium because its pretty looking or better silver?

Paying a premium on something that is based off of bullion value is not smart IMO.

I don't care who made the bar, it's still just silver.

these are always a good buy as they can be had close to spot and you get a nice chunk of silver at the same time
Another plus to these are they hold a door open very well

My favorites are all silver:
90% US coins - mix of denominations
Eagle
Generic bullion (from known companies) -1, 5, 10 oz

1/10 gold is ok; I like the Eagle or Panda the most.

Canadian bullion gets milk spots too often. I don't care; it's just bullion. However, many people won't touch it or treat it like generic at that point so I prefer not to hassle with it b/c it does carry some premium to begin with.

Paying more than a small premium for bullion is something I try staying away from. I have some premium stuff and I like them but if need to sell, it may take a while or it may have to be sold for a loss.

you will always have premiums on englehard's and JM's, but you will get it back, when you go to sell it. Same with ASE's. Bit it is the same silver content.

Spot value(value, used for HUGE paper contracts) has nothing to do with Bullion(physical) value, it is usually close only because the masses accept that. the physical price should be in the mid to high 30's, if not alot higher right now. Some day, hopefully soon, you will see the spot price, and physical price, separate, and that is when the physical price will skyrocket, and "shortages" will be abound.
