You ain't kidding! Seeing those prices, there's no way you could NOT justify going to this as with some effort you could easily recoup your costs.

True.

Oh now now....that's the logic applied to a lot of "gatherings"
The issue is when masses get the same idea and rape pricing.
Your WD cover thats dropped 60-70.00 in 3 days should be the obvious point to start.
If people see massive yields expect them to return as well as people who look at it the way you are. thus increasing available copies, driving the price down faster, etc, etc

I am a dreamer...but i am a realist. markets are easy to plot as long as you look without being biased towards instant profit.

if you can cut your costs to go to the show, food, housing, etc, over what most would consider the norm, then you may have an edge

If it costs 1200-1400 with food, room and air and you can drive there in 2 hours, offset room and air with gas and travel time you can get it down to 500-600.
if you can fly to a friend or family member, stay for free and then rent and drive down, you would be in the 800-900 range
These are random numbers to give a scale of comprehension to what I am trying to say

Point is, go for it,but go for it with a smart point of view. Have your fun time set aside and apart from your money time.

But alas there is another way to look at it as well...take more money to purchase stuff to sell and thereby offset more cost via more sales...I dont think that youd offset the whole cost of the trip if your bringing $400 to buy stuff to flip. Though If you scored the Lego Shazam/bizzaro mini figs then you'd easily clear your investment with 2 pair

I'm not looking at it as a profit-gaining trip, I'm looking at it as a way for me to get from NJ to San Diego without having to sell a kidney. I just want to come home with a good time on my resumé without the scars on my wallet to show for it.

Am I looking to gouge? Nope. But market value on something is market value, it's why we all break open packs and boxes of cards blindly hoping for that one hit that either covers the cost or nets some profit. Many times I justify the cost of a box by selling the inserts I don't want, and keeping the ones I do. So if I buy something for $25 and everyone else is selling theirs for $100, is it wrong for me to as well?

And believe me, I do as many things on the cheap as I can. Don't look for High Roller Ted in San Diego any time soon.
