Default Official "Here's what Andy slaved his vacation away to get me" Thread

Thanks again Andy. You're a class act and a pleasure to deal with. None of us probably know you IRL, but you went out of your way to spend part of your vacation locating items for all of us here.

It was my pleasure to pay your way for the Escape and I hope it was fun being eaten alive

Also got 3x B&W Walking Dead #100 variant.

someone filmed the Zombie Walk at Comic Con

-- LOL: We all know that Pedo Bear running towards you at 2:38 is way scarier than the zombies.

Pedobear ROFL
That would have been funny to see as I am sure people playing zombies would have slowed down, looked at him with the WTF?!? expression...killing the immersion of the event for all and causing the end of the world as we know it...

the whole run was just epic man. the part at 17:30 is hwere i banged my knee up pretty good.

at 20:10 when you pass the spectators, a zombie was hiding behind that blind wall and totally bear-hugged me. that's the one that got me. there was also an ass hole (staff) shouting "move it mister, you wanna die?!" at that point so I started running and went right into him haha.

the obstacle at 25:30 was another point i got grabbed. when i slid down, i took out the staff member because i had tons of momentum haha.

my run also wasn't nearly as crowded thankfully. It might have been sparse because I ran in a "heat" with Lucas Till (of X-Men First Class fame) and his entourage. He outran me, but I outran a fit black dude so that made me feel good

Most of the toys and exclusives you are seeing, are they are to get once you are there? I really want to go to Comic-Con next year, no idea what to expect there, would love to pick some stuff up.

We should all try and do a group meet at SDCC...sometime in the next few years as tickets are hard to get!

Does the phrase selling your body as a male prostitute ring a bell?

Fred Garvin, Male Prostitute.

I'm not even sure, back when I was an exibitor at E3 and CES I used to either get a press badge, or had a booth. I've never actually had to get real tickets before. Maybe Andy can fill us in.

Tickets were a pain to get. First, you had to register a Member ID to even get into the queue to buy tickets. When ticket sales went live, you had to be logged in immediately to get a decent spot in the queue. There was an issue also with the link to the website, so that screwed over a bunch of people to buy tickets. (not me though!)

If I'm eligible for pre-registration for next year I'm going to sign up.

And Indy that video was awesome!!! I wish I would have run it now.

yeah, it's pretty tough.

thankfully, my family was staying on top of it so my one job was to remember to wake up at a certain time and get into a digital "line" to order tix.

I got in a minute after the site opened, and i was already 4k back in line. My family was 5 mins and they were 15 k back. I was set to get us all 4 day passes, and then when my turn came up it instantly kicked me out. the site hates Chrome apparently.

thankfully my family cleaned up behind me and grabbed tix. To be perfectly honest, I think the Thursday and Sunday passes we got were perfect. Friday and Saturday are just outrageously packed. Thursday you get all the goodies that are exclusives (unless the booths allot how many they'll sell each day), and Sunday is when you grab the deals. Sometimes the exclusives remaining are high in price by sunday, but you still find nasty steals (like that Revival variant).

had I had my head on straight, I would have bought up more poyo and gotten them auto'd. sitting on one more (that isn't in the greatest condition hence why I didn't list/sell yet). I'll have to take an extra picture to show the damage to it and hope i get 40 for it.

anyway, there is a pre-registration that you must do for comic con online. Then, months later, you do that online pass purchase that is only open to the pre-registration.

it's a lot of hoops, but so worth it. if you even remotely plan to go next year, find out the dates of the event asafp and reserve a hotel room now.

the issue was a godsend actually. all you had to do was copy/paste the link and it worked. people kept clicking and getting nowhere, which let me and my fam get decent spots.

That's what I did initially. I was in the 400s in the queue

Thank you for your interest in purchasing badges in advance for Comic-Con 2013.

More information will be coming shortly.

IMO....not sure how it is done, but I think there may be just as much money in buying up 3 day passes and selling them the week of the show

I actually just want to go and buy myself and friends stuff, and see cool things lol. I would pick up a few things to flip, but it would be just to pay for my trip.

It still amazes me what Comic-Con San Diego has become. Back in the mid 90's, when it was just comics, my buddy and I just rolled down to the convention center and bought tickets the day of. and this was the boom period of overproduced comics. the popularity of comics has died down, but it has turned into a big Hollywood event type with new movies and tv shows and celebrity watching and it's damn near impossible to get a ticket.
