Default Comic Porn

I dunno what else to call it.
Guy called me, needed 100.00 said he had a box of silver/Bronze
Was 43 books.
1st 2 books were Averngers 19 and 24. The 24 was a solid 8.5. I palmed the rest of the books with a casual glance and paid him.

Friend comes by, begins to go through the pile and pulls this GEM out of the lot

Of course my face cracked in half.

I went ahead and tossed a query on CGC knowing the bulk of them will say 7-8 and then offer to buy it.
When reviewing graded issues on ebay and comparing..the book is a 9.0
I see it as an 8.5

Anyway
Not sure if I want to sell ti or trade it for more silver

ALSO

Ironman 14-120 (sold the 14-26,54)
Avengers 19 VG, 24 VF+/NM-
Action comics 216-241
Tales of suspense 65 F-
and a smattering of 3-5.00 silver-age,well 3-5 in my book. Like the Bronze Ironman 120 is selling at 12-20 for a VF/NM- copy, to me its a 10-12.00 book ....I price differently than most

Guy has 4900 more books and wants to sell them all. Of course, I said bring them based on the cursory glance..now...I am about to piss myself with anticipation

My faith is resotred

Without seeing the inside, I'd say 8.0-8.5

Great snag!!! If you're looking to sell it, PM me a price. ;0

It's the typical bronze off-white
No bent pages, dog ears.
It SHOULD grade an 8.5 and with the key factor, possibly a 9.0 after looking at some of the 9's on ebay......I get more and more confused each time i see key issues graded at the grades some get
If I were sure it would go 9.0 I would have to honestly say it would be my 1st book to send it. The 200.00 difference in sale price from 8.5-9.0 would be enough to warrant the effort.

I will throw it out there Indy, I am going to shoot for 430.00 and paypal fees ($13.81). I figure someone spends the grading fee on standard and doesnt push the value and puts it in the "up to $1,000.00" category for 60.00, they can flip it , if they so desire, and still turn, after ebay fees, a 80.00-110.00 profit. Shipping will be free, priority,DC and signature required and insured

I would advise against the flip. If someone can sit on it till next summer it should be 700.00-900.00 by then. Good shot at being the next Bronze age book to break the 1,000.00 mark in the price guide.

I will do pack
He has FF I jsut haven;t sen them. I am trying not to pay 10,000.00 for 15,000.00 worth of books granted it is a good value, but my math says I can turn 10k into 20k faster with cases of Bowman than buying, supplying and listing books and paying fees.

I try to sell to people where they can BUY from me and if they so choose, resell on ebay and make a profit. Keeps people coming to me and makes me #1 on the local call list for anything Silver/GOld...but it also colors my POV to people who are charging market, which is not fair to them and I am working on not doing that

I know how you work, Gib, as if I recall we did a few deals for cards on SCF. While I of course can't break the bank on a 9.0 FF #48 or anything of that sort, if there are any lower grade FF's dealing with the SS or SS's own issues, I'd hope we can work deals out for them. Those would be PC for me.

Good luck on what you end up picking up from the guy. It sounds like you might find some real gems in the other stuff he has.

Of course. Money is the incidental part. For me it's the fun and doing the deal
TBH, if I did get a 49 that looked 9.0, as with the Ironman 55, it would have to be graded lol
That book...yeesh, the difference in price from a 8.5-9.0 is almost 500.00
But yah, I will hold all SS and FF related SS and get with you before doing any other deals on them

Heh.. I just saw this. Not a bad price at all IMHO. You should have no problem getting $350 on Feebay. Ungraded I don't think I'd spend that on it as 9.0's are not going for much more than that graded at the comic auctions, but I appreciate the offer as always. On top of that I might get lucky and find one in a collection like you did

9.0s are going for 800 last once sold Monday i think at that
These are completed sales over the last 7 days
The last 3 8.5 have sold at 575,595,620
350 is fair since it's only 60.00 to make its value worth at least 500 on a bad grade, 600 on a normal and 800 on a steroid grade
My wife is pushing for the grading. She gets mad that all I do is spend spend spend which was why I offered a price. I tossed it on ebay from annoyance, she saw the email and told me to remove it and get it graded...she confuses me sometimes
I told her I would let it ride until Tues/WED next week. If the offers were silly, then I would sign up for CGC and go get it graded...didn't tell her I had to pay a fee to join, but oh well :P

It'll be a good experiment for you. I just sent an X-men #141 which I thought would be 9.0 at least, came back an 8.0, and the price difference on resale between those two numbers is HUGE. For example, a 8.5 Iron Man #55 just sold for $155.35, but yeah, a 9.0 would get closer to 750-800.. Good luck, let us know how it goes!

No, his employees
But i paid him considerably more than 100.00 for all of the books, he said he needed to make 100.00 and would I buy some books to get it to him.

Don't ever let all of the facts get in the way of a good story son

Well,gosh
Thanks for the apology
I did not expect that
I like to leave out info that makes a blah story more interesting....it's jsut how some of us in the south tell things.

I mean

Guy wanted 100.00...I paid him 400.00 and here are the books...sounds so DULL...
Thanks for the apology...it's why I love comics so much more than ball cards
