havent been submitting too much lately cause the cost and turnaround time is very expensive and very long becuase i mostly collect silver age higher dollar books so it gets pricey to grade them.
but i just boxed up 4 nice books i am mailing out tomorrow that i been wanted to get graded for a few months now. books going in are : silver surfer #1 (my grade 7.0-7.5) iron man #1 (my grade 4.5-5.0) luke cage hero for hire #1 (my grade 8.5-9.0) human torch #1 (my grade 9.6 but really hoping for 9.8) lets see how i do i usually am spot on with these submissions sent out under 20 day so should know in about 3 weeks wish me luck.

no, the only one that even had a chance at pressing up would probaly be the iron man but maybe just a tad. the other 3 i dont think would have benefited from it. still wish i knew how to do it myself lol. teach a brother!

Cujo you will have to give me pressing tips if you get time. While I am doing this for myself only, I still have yet to grasp small details other than guessing and all I seem to be doing is making my books hot
![]() I am FAIRLY sure the key is pressure. I run at 190 degrees and I pop in archival paper folded in half and slide the book between the halves. I have let the books go from 5 mins to up to 2 hours and, remove, then place under 1/8 panes of glass with 20lbs on top.....and still the change seems minor. My guess on pressure, I would think I need to add support to bring the book closer to the top platen( Is this what these are called on the presses? ) another 1 inch or so, so when I pull the bar down and lock it into place, it creates pressure and compresses the book more while heated. Since I am doing this on my "keepers" iI do not want to guess and ruin any. IF I am close, let me know, would be nice. I tried to help a local guy with a house of mystery #2 he had and looked like it had been wadded up,cover only. When it came out it was crisp and shiny. 2 hours later I pulled it from under the glass, hit the light and the bulk of the wrinkle impressions were still there. Any basic tips would be helpful. I had thought this could be used to make a few $$ on the side as well, but the power usage, warm up time and...the fact I forget I am doing it when I am killed that idea, so now it is more along the lines of something I can do to help local guys as well as clean my wrinkled books up Then again maybe our press is too big for this type of job. A guess would have it's surface area of 36 x 40. It's used for applying foam cork and prints to be framed Thanks ahead of time regardless of reply or no reply

well just checked cgc site and my grades are posted and lets just say my year was just made!!!!!!!!!!!!
here are the grades and like always my grades are usually spot on! silver surfer 1 cgc 7.5 ow/wht pages ![]() luke cage 1 cgc 9.0 white pages ![]() iron man 1 cgc 4.0 ow/wht pages should have pressed it probaly will now ![]() but the thing that made my day, month and year!! human torch #1 cgc 9.8 white pages!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() i have been trying to buy a human torch 1 cgc 9.8 for over a year. only 4 exist in this grade and the last one sold for over $750 and i have not seen one for sale or know where there is one at for sale so i am SUPER excited about this. now my next round will be sending in 3 ms marvels 1 that i think 1 is 9.8 and the other 2 are 9.4-9.6 and a few other older books i have that can get 9.2 or higher cant wait to get them back will post pics when i do. the surfer and cage will be available the torch probably not unless the offer is 4 figures and the iron man will be cracked and pressed then re subbed then im sure it will come back bout 5.0 or higher the back cover was wrinkled and i think that affected it more then i thought it would.
