I won't know the situation until tomorrow.
He's got some comics /w hundreds in the 15 cents and less era including spiderman, doctor strange, and too many I can't remember. If I had a list I would provide it (or look them up myself), but I will need a somewhat accurate quote to give the guy a fair offer while I am there.

My advice, have him name his price. They're his comics and he needs to be comfortable with the sale. You don't have to buy them if you think he's too high. Talk to him a bit and get a general feeling about his emotional attachment to them, the closer, the harder and higher his price will probably be. If he's not really tied to them, you might be able to negotiate a better deal. I'll be here tomorrow, so feel free to post, and if I can, I'll try and talk on the phone, but I'm usually at work and they hate me talking about comics at work. They think I'm one of those "weirdos".. (who doesn't!)

Well... I don't have anyone who's number I can call yet... Assuming I actually go over there I will give the person who helps me out first crack on a portion of comics in addition to pay them very well for their time on the phone ($50 for 15-30 minutes, maybe more if the stuff is great).

Sean, who is the this person selling the comics? Did you meet them somewhere, find an ad somewhere? Do you know the history of the collection? Are they a collector or did they inherit the stuff?

He's someone my age, they were handed to him by his father. I bought his pokemon + magic + massive unopened sports collection yesterday, and am going to visit him today at noon (or around there). 100% inherit

Well... Apparently he's one of those guys who sells you one thing and disappears when you want to buy the rest. Too bad he had some nice stuff

What Gibb said, the guy ended up calling me an hour later apologizing asking me if I still wanted to go over - I just got back home from running around!

Quote:
I'm sure he will call me in the future, I treated him extremely well and gave him a great deal on what I bought (non-sports). He also has a "mysterious" safe that he claimed had some holy grails in it but they needed to find the key to the safe which their dad didn't leave them in an obvious place. He also noted that what I was viewing was only about half the collection and claimed to have doubles of everything. How true that is I don't know, but I will update this thread should I end up purchasing anything.
