I just stumbled upon it while looking through upcoming releases. It seems like most new Series' coming out have some buzz on these boards a few weeks before release, but I hadn't seen anything about Clone.
Here is a synopsis of the first three issues: Archonia.com - IMAGE COMICS - CLONE Sounds like a cool storyline, and with Hollywood making clone movies like The Island and Surrogates, this storyline seems more intriguing to me and could be a movie candidate one day. Does anyone know if it's just going to be a 3 part series or ongoing and are there any rarer variants out there worth the gamble? |

I pre-ordered 10 at half price, I haven't heard too much buzz. Could be a sleeper. Kirkman is involved and the guy who is writing it is a TV writer.

I think the Adlard might be a 1:1, stores might have had a choice of which they wanted. I haven't looked back at the solicitations in a while.

With Kirkman and Adlard's names even attached to it, I would think it would have gotten a little hype, but it's not really out there. I've attended a few Screenwriting conferences, and ever since Inception, I'm getting multiple emails every month with studios looking for "High Concept" scripts. The Island did well at the Box Office, Surrogates not so much, but I'm sure it still made money overall, so a decent clone movie every three or four years could do well. I guess it's up to how good the writing is, but the one paragraph previews sound cool to me. I couldn't find any special, rare variants, so I guess it's just a few Two-Buck-Chucks for speculation.

I think this is definitely worth picking up. If it totally sucks, quit buying it, but you only have one chance to get in at #1 cheap. If it takes off and is great and builds a following, you'll have to pay A LOT more later. Kirkman being attached to the imprint helps drive people to it, but story has to be good or it will falter.

Yeah, you missed that window, but a smaller window will open 1 week before release at Midtown. They always keep a few to offer for sale the week preceding released. Like this week, you can order Great Pacific #1 at Midtown, even though it's sold out at the distributor. (Unless they too have sold out by now)

Midtown should have some discounted issues next week when they list the upcoming week's releases.
Based on the lack of buzz, it could be under-ordered. Even though Kirkman's name is attached to it, I don't think stores want to be stuck with another Haunt on their hands. I don't think it will be Peter Panzerfaust or Think Tank under-ordered, but it will be worth keeping an eye on reviews and sales numbers moving forward.

Also a tip on ordering from Midtown.
From my experiences with them, if you order 1-5 comics they put your order in a cardboard envelope, which 1/3 of the time is pretty beat up by the time it reaches your mailbox. Thus, there is a good chance your comics are too. I try to keep my order around 7-10 items when ordering form them, so that they are forced to use a box with the great bubble packaging.
