I was checking out Rashan Ekedal's home page also, and it looks like he and Matt Hawkins will be signing at Hypno Comics in Ventura, CA on 2/13. I'm thinking it's highly doubtful that I can make that one...but if I go I'll see if I can find out any info on the series.

I got three of the #1 Variatnts CGC Yellow Labelled yesterday, when I asked Matt if he minded if I got a few books Yellow Labelled he had no idea what I was talking about, so I guess I will have the first three ever done. I told him I had to have a CGC representative witness it and he asked "oh, so do I just go over to the CGC booth with you then?" I told him that they would come to his booth
So the #1 Bagus Hutomo variant was actually a concept drawing done about three years ago when Hawkins was trying to pitch the idea as a TV Series or movie. I guess it never got off the ground in Hollywood, so a few years later he brought it to comic book form. Notice Dr. David Loren has brown hair on the variant and blond hair in the comics now. Hawkins is selling the Vanity Variant 1:4 for $5 at the show and a Miltary Dossier Arizona Comic Con exclusive /250 for $10. I bought the #5 and read it in my hotel room last night. I you haven't caught onto this series, you are seriously missing out, but the TPB right now. |

Two more quick notes, I told Hawkins that the first edition #1 was up to $20 and the Variant up to $40 already and he was very surprised. I told him that we've had a few posts on this forum about Think Tank and he took down this website's information on his cell phone so he could check it out. Not sure if he'll join BO and reply, but he will probably read this thread.

Yes! I picked up 2 yesterday as soon as they were listed. Between it only being the remains after sales at arizona CC and 250 total print run I thought they'd sell out in minutes. Doesn't say how many remain, but I wouldn't "dawdle"... as my grandma says.

That variant is all over the place, it sells for $40 delivered one week and then $14 the next week. Like myself and a few of us on these boards, a lot of us gobbled those variants up around Christmas time in quantity and have been slowly dishing them out on eBay. I have a feeling in a month or two that those will dry up and the prices will start to rise pretty significantly, especially since the TPB of the first four issues has been released and #5 just came out with an awesome little evil twist, and you know David Loren has something up his sleeve on this one.
Just an FYI, I asked Matt Hawkins how many 2nd prints of #1 were produced, and it was only 1500 made. Second Print is usually a bad word for resale value, but considering there were 7000+ of the first print #1, and that the second print of #1 is by far the best looking cover (in my opinion anyways), I think the second print has big potential, and you can still pick them up cheap on the Top Cow website. I think if you email them there is a bulk discount too. |
