...told him the two stores I frequent and that I talk up the book to the owners. Gave him the names of the stores to check out and all that stuff.

Don't ever admit to being a "lurker" there. Those guys get their panties in a bunch real easily over us on this forum. Somebody that posts here (not sure of his SN.) made a comment about the "sports card guys" in the East of West thread...about being like the sport card guys dropping 1000's on cases so why not drop $100 on 30 copies of a book and seeing what happens. basically putting down us card collectors for invading their precious hobby and fluctuating the comic market because of our speculating.
Sorry but I'm a reader and lover of the books, have been since I was a kid. Sure there is prospecting in the card world. You win some you lose some. If I read a book I like and see potential in it what's the difference in buying a card in any number of a price, hoarding them, and selling at peak times? Just like the latest Saga and Peter Panzerfaust craze in comics...if I can buy a book for $3-$5 cover price and turn a profit on it you can be damn sure I'm going to. Last I knew a person isn't limited to 1 hobby, so to the pompous people on the CGC board get used to us. We're here to stay. Haters gonna hate. |

I think there are more "sports cards guys" on that board than they care to admit. I'm probably one of the few here who doesn't do cards...well except the Sportscaster set that I forgot I had as a kid.
No judgement here. The more people reading and buying the indie books will put more money into the pocket of the creators. They are the ones who deserve it.

Same name here as there. DAMN people I don't think read what gets posted. What I said was that those who spend 1000's on cases will have no issues dropping the same coin on comics. Why the hell not?!?! The roi for sportscards/nonsportscards and other collectibles is NOTHING in comparison to Comics currently. I am an equal opportunity collector//dealer//money grabbing whore. It was just a statement on the hobby and where it is going. The days of Image comics flying under the radar with sub 10k print runs is over. Be aware of this and if you are into making money position yourself properly. IF you thought I was degrading card guys than I was being overly critical of myself because I am one too.
OK back to NWM .... |

In about 3 months we will both be wishing we bought it even at VF+, that is such a low print run on a variant. 850 total copies.
