I finally found the motivation to start selling some comics/collectibles i've been sitting on for awhile. I'm also planning on posting up some superiors and asm 700s when i get them. would it be hard for me to attract buyers since i have no selling history? i do have a 100% score as a buyer, but not sure if that will help much. i put up a couple BIN items to test the waters and i've had no luck selling any.

With Ebay Buyer Protection, buyers take more chances with new sellers. Sellers' feedback doesn't have the same meaning as it used to with the buyer's protection plan.

Pack your comics very well. I always pay attention to that in a sellers feedback. If they don't, no way I'm risking buying from them.
You can ship the comics media mail unless it's going to Hawaii or Alaska. Then send Priority because it takes too long. I've had shipments get to a buyer in CA from me in VA in two days frequently. Service doesn't necessarily matter as much as how you pack the books.

I would say be careful with grading stuff. No matter how many pictures I put up or how many times I stress I'm not a professional grader - even giving ball park grades with a 2 point leeway has given me my only ever bad comment. He still put it as positive but in the comments was like "the pages weren't white enough for the grade you gave it" - dude...I ball park guessed, said I wasn't a pro and provided open book pictures...what more can I do?
I just don't even bother estimating anymore. |

In my experience, comics do best ending on Saturday or Sunday evening when most people are home chilling, at least it seems comic lovers are.

I always end my auctions between 9 p.m. and midnight eastern time. Best time to end an auction is Sunday, but any day between 9-12 is good. Maybe not a Friday night.
I usually do a standard 7 day auction. If it is a hot item that is going to cool off fast like the spidey stuff a 5 day auction might work well.

This is not for everyone, but something I do when mailing out comics is put a quick 2 minute sketch on the shipping label. It both identifies the comic to the buyer and I hope puts a smile on their face. I have received a lot more feedback since I started doing it, so I'll continue.
