This is some tough news to swallow for comic book fans. According to writer John Layman on his official Twitter account, the proposed Chew TV series that Showtime was going to put into production is now dead. Here is the tweet:

In other news ABC has a new show airing called "Swallow"...it's about a world where poultry is outlawed and there is a special crime division dedicated to cases involving such that can tell what happened to the victims by swallowing their flesh.

Bit like chew but, you know, different.

I think it will still be made by some other channel. Could be a good time to grab a few copies if the prices come back down.

It won't be picked up. If showtime passed, thats pretty much bottom of the barrel..First would have been Hbo/AMC/FX/Then network..Sounds like either too much money, or too many comics being made into shows and showtime didn't want in yet..

Although I never invested in chew. I would caution those who would take delight in seeing a series demise.. there will be people who lose a lot of money from this and it's really not something to take pleasure in.

This is one thing the card section is notorious about. People who seem to take pleasure in the financial loss of others... I really hope that doesn't happen here as we have a pretty good group.

I myself think it would have been awesome..I am tired of networks and pay channels afraid to take chances, or cancel the good shows they have, Fox-Terra Nova/Alcatraz/Firefly
SyFy Eureka/Alpha's
RIP too some great shows, they went before their time.

I'm hoping another network steps up and picks it up. I'm not happy it died on Showtime, but as many of us have stated before, just because it's optioned doesn't mean it'll get made. Hopefully they've released the property and will allow them to shop it around to other production houses.

Not sure I would call Showtime bottom of the barrell when it comes to shows either.

Dexter, Homeland, The Tudors, Califorinication, Queer as Folk.

Just off the top of my head.

But this is a perfect example of why I flip when it's hot. Sure maybe in 2 years from now those Sixth Guns I bought for $3.00 and sold for $79, MIGHT be worth a LOT more.

Then again, the pilot may never the light of day. And they will be worth....well $3.00

Are you referring to my LMAO at Indy's CHEW Titanic. If so it is in no way taking pleasure in anyone losing money and feel it is a far reach on your part if that's the case. If not...never mind.

Well dexter is done after this season or next, homeland never got into..What would be interesting is if Netflix picked it up, they are doing their own thing now with Kevin Spacey's new series, and they bought Arrested Development for a whole new season. To be honest, it would belong on Sy-Fy, so would walking dead, if the guys at syfy weren't so off on things. As for bottom of the barrel, its a term about where shows go, starting to finish, most start at network, then cable, then the pay channels, nothing about their quality.Just where they are in the food chain..I do know this from some personal experience..

Chew just seems to far out there to be an actual TV show, but it could be great as an animated series. I think a lot of the value in Chew and Revival was in those who stocked up and were hoping for a mini-Walking Dead type fan base. My guess is Chew drops a solid 30% in the next few months, but keep in mind it has been going sky high in the last year, so anyone who bought six months or more ago will still be above water.
