I just looked thru my summer pick up pile and found my other copy I picked up, it's the direct edition the one I just bought us a newsstand copy. The price tag was still on the direct version, $8.

It is very nice. The newsstand copy needs a pressing.

I only have one shoebox of comics from my childhood. When I saw this thread I remembered have some low numbers of xfactor. Low and behold I have xfactor #1-6. I was never into reading them so they have basically been in sleeves ever since. Looks to be in pretty good shape. I'm going to have it evaluated this week, so don't bother asking to buy it. :-) I will post a pic if anyone wants to volunteer an opinion on the condition.

Went to a comic show this weekend and saw maybe 5 total copies - priced all over the board.

Not a one sold......

I still think we're gonna see the prices start to fall off some after the initial hype wears off. I could be wrong but I think these people who are paying $500 for a 9.8 right now are going to end up wishing they'd waited a little longer...

So me circulation numbers for X-Factor #5 and #6 - orders for #5 through Capital City distrubtion totalled 49,700 copies, and fell to 47,200 for #6.

Full circulation statements begin with #12, and state that sales averaged 340,850 copies per issue for the year preceding - meaning that Capital City probably accounts for about 15% of the total print run

I knew somewhere I had read this before and finally found it.

It still doesn't give us any idea. Once again its hard for me to believe x-factor was as highly printed as uncanny x-men.

Do you have a link to the numbers Fastball? It does give guidance. If Capital City alone distributed nearly 50k, considering the distribution system at the time, the 350,000 number is not far off. Many newsstand versions would/should have been destroyed so that will bring the number down a bit. But this would be in line with other Marvel titles of the day.

I wish I did. I just thought the print run for that book couldn't be under 50k. I look around and see what I can dig up. There is a large book resource that has print runs in it as well, but I forget the title.

I agree it doesn't give concrete numbers, but I feel confident in saying that X-factors print run was not small by any means.

October 1985's top seller at Capital City was Marvel's X-Factor #1, with orders of 77,800 copies through Capital; overall sales were likely north of 400,000 copies. Secret Wars II crossovers were also continuing to appear in many Marvel titles; Uncanny X-Men #232 was one, ranking as the second-place title. Crisis on Infinite Earths, nearing its conclusion, saw its 11th issue place fourth. The big buzz of the month, though, was that John Byrne — the force behind X-Factor #1 — would be taking over Superman in 1986; the reboot ultimately made a huge difference to Superman's sales.

This pretty much gives us an idea of the print run or at least a rough idea of at least what say 200K-250k or more?

See I remember X-Factor being a fairly popular and big deal back in the day. One of the first series I collected which till this day I have the complete run. Did it do Uncanny X-men numbers NO! But I would venture to guess the print run is much higher then you expect.

I do see that book A LOT. I've never felt like it was overly hard to find like a Preacher #1 or Sandman #1

Alright here ya go. Now that I look closer I'm a little embarrassed to say it's not as good as I thought. Oh well, I'd still like to hear what y'all think the condition might be.

There are some small tears in the top of the cover probably from being in the news stand or rack. There's a stain on the top of the back. Not sure how that got there. I have another book in the same holder and it's not stained.
