Default My question of the day

Can someone give an example of a 2nd printing or later
being worth more than a 1st printing ?

Batman 608 and 612 right off the top of my head.
Issued in 2002 when variants were "rare". They were second print books with different covers to differentiate them from 1st prints.
SINCE, most boxes would have pulled the 1st printing, then the demand, back then, for 2nd would have been lower and thus fewer in the market
There is about a 100.00 different between the 2 on a 9.8 slabbed...AND...the dealer incentive print sells for 800-1000, a second print with yet a 3rd cover...AND the Mattel 2nd print sells for several hundred as well

It all breaks down to the core of the hobby...lower print, more value on the back end. Cards,comics,toys...it all carries

Remember in the 90's when direct edition use to go for more than newstand? It's a fad nothing more. The sad part is that it really dictates the comic economy.

Correct me if I'm wrong but aren't a majority 2nd, 3rd + printings lower print run than their proceeding 1st print?

Most of the Amazing Spider-Man "New Ways to Die" storyline. Issues #568-572.
I loved that story.

It was a repack of the first 5 issues of Spider-Man that was only sold through Walmart. The direct market Gold reprint had the spidey head.

I dont think they will get to that level of fame again as the writters now have more control. Although Id love to see Dragota pick up some steam and Jae Lee is getting damn close
