I beg to differ on that. There really isn't any difference between cartoon and live action. If it's successful then $$$$. A cartoon might have a better chance to succeed because there are very few limitations on what they can do. This book is made to be an animated series.

Seems like Todd has stopped around USD40. There are a couple of BINs above UD40 now that isn't moving. This prices seems reasonable and not too crazy.
Where is the bloody news that is suppose to come? Or has it been cancelled even before it has been announced? LOL

Some bronze age movie related books are starting to move up. Went from a USD10+ book to USD30-40+ book.

Hint hint: 2nd appearances

GOTG Hehe. Enough Hint?

Actually what is the significance of 66? I was looking for a 54 because that is the official first appearance of the Heroes for Hire name. Finally found one today (US version, not UK). Don't understand why they are not commonly listed in Ebay.

2nd appearance of Sabertooth. Ah, yes. Hulk Annual 5, 2nd Groot no doubt. I was following it for a while but like Marvel two in one #5, 2nd Guardians they tend not to hold value for too long.

U got it! For Marvel two in one #5, that is because it is the wrong team. I don't think a lot of folks care for this team once the movie lineup was announced.

If Groot becomes popular, his first appearance is already out of reach for most. I mean, you can't find a single copy of tales to astonish 13 on ebay. The last one went for 1.4k for a 5.5. There is laterally no supply.

Having no choice, groot collectors only have the 2nd appearance to contend with. This is where Hulk Annual 5 comes in. Even for those, I don't see that many listings compared to Hulk 271, which is the second appearance of Rocket.

To me, if the GOTG movie takes off, it will all about these 2. Like R2D2 and CPO. The human characters are not that interesting, at least to me.

Again, this is just all speculation. I am prepared to be totally wrong.

I think a big part of Hulk 271 is the cover art.

Anyone else think Helheim would make a *spoon* good animation series set to some heavy metal?

You have a point with Groot and his 1st appearance not being obtainable by most, just personally I think he is extremely lame. Rocket Raccoon, meh, but I see his appeal and agree with statements that the kids will love him. People knew pretty early in the swing of things that it was going to be the 2008 team which didn't stop values/prices of Marvel Super Heroes 18 from exploding, so I don't personally think that is why their 2nd appearance didn't hold value. For Groot you also have Where monsters Dwell #6 (another Groot 1st appearance alternative) which went from a $3-$6 book to a $60-$100.
With Incredible Hulk 271 some considered that to be Rocket Racoon's 1st appearance, due to CGC stating it as his 1st app, or whatever other reason (which it is his 1st comic and 2nd depending on your classification) so both could be logical. CGC goes off of Overstreet for the most part and Overstreet isn't perfect but neither is any other source. There are just far too many characters and when dealing with obscure previously uncared about appearance's like rockets no on will bother to edit or look into it until someone bothers them to do so. Most people aren't borderline obsessive over details either though.

Star Wars is actually an excellent parallel at least at this point not knowing if it will be as epic as I believe. So with your statement about R2D2 and CPO can you really deny the cult popularity of Boba Fett, and Yoda? The question should be who is the Boba Fett and Yoda of GoTg or The boba fett and yoda of gotg, question should be who is. Depending on how nerdy you want to roll.
