Question Anyone besides me collect Spawn?

If so, let me know, please.

I've been buying Spawn since I recently got back into collecting, so just from 223 on. I've got about a dozen older issues, the first few Dark Ages, and the Undead run.

I had the 1-100 run. Then my house got broken into last May. I only had one long box of stuff from my teens and it went with everything else. That was the comic that turned me onto drawing and ended up defining my career path.

I have bought a few of the newer issues with covers I liked, but I'm so far out of the loop on the story line. I do want to replace my #1 with a CGC (even though the idea of grading bothers me)

I collected it from the first day. I remember seeing Todd in Detroit at a con for his Spawn premier. It was good for awhile. I liked the Hbo cartoon. But Todd got a little attitudey. but then again if I could draw like he does, I would too.I did like 1-10 though..they can be bought cheap now

I tried to collect it a month ago. Especially when one of my LCS was doing a twenty five cent deal on back issues. So I have mostly up to issues 10. Ironically! I ended up grabbing the first of appearance of Angela out of the fact it was the first Medieval spawn. Two weeks later.... The rest is history. lol

Why do you ask Hilfiger?

Are you starting a fan club? Make a bet with a buddy that someone besides you still collected Spawn?
Where you looking for something in particular or just curious?

Well, I know I can't help you out. I've bought 4 issues total, back in '92. The first issue I got was #4. Then I went on a run and bought 6 and 7. Missed another month and bought #9, and that was my last issue. I thought it was kinda funny when #9 started to get talked about, and someone posted they found 3 in their closet with no effort. I immediately thought, "Yeah, even I have that issue, so they must not be too hard to find."

I sold a clean Spawn #1 to a 20 ish year old kid for $7 today, and he was going crazy. I know there are about 2 million of them made, but apparently he loves Spawn and nobody in Vegas carries many collectible back issues, so he was beyond stoked. My shop is only four days old, but today for FCBD we probably gained 20 new hardcore regulars and they will tell their friends, so it will snowball. And yes, Spawn does rule! Hopefully they find a way to remake a movie trilogy or something, because with modern CGI, they could make Spawn unreal.

Let me know if you need anything in particular. My LCS is having a sale this week on back issues and I saw today that they have a ton of Spawn.

I went to the shop yesterday to pick up some, but they had NONE!! Was like how could a shop have no Spawn?

I really wanted to pick up McFarlane work.

Spawn was one of the very first comics I bought when it first came out. I am sure I have multiple copies of the first 10 or so issues sitting at my parents house. Also got most of the Image #1 issues from way back then. I guess they are not worth much nowadays.

I have more spawn than I can count, lol. I used to love him as a kid and still do. And without a doubt, spawn the animated series is one of the best animated series ever made.

I was a bit sad that I had to give away my spawn toys collection because we just couldn't fit all of my collection in the move I made from michigan to hawaii. My wife said yes to the cards and comics but no to the still in the box spawn toys, lol. I gave it to a lifetime buddy of mine, along with my onimusha 2 mcfarlane set.

I wish they were worth something though....... It's sad all of the spawn toys and comics aren't worth much.

Wow, I was just reading Todd McFaralane's wikpedia page, and I came across this:

Spawn was launched in 1992 with McFarlane as artist/writer for the first 7 issues. Guest writers Alan Moore, Neil Gaiman, Dave Sim and Frank Miller were brought on for issues 8 to 11 (respectively) while McFarlane continued as the artist. In order to concentrate on the 1994 Spawn/Batman crossover (with Miller writing), he brought on Grant Morrison (as writer) and Greg Capullo (penciller) from issues #16-#18. Then Andrew Grossberg and Tom Orzechowski took over writing issues #19 and 20 with Capullo still penciling. McFarlane returned as writer/artist for issue 21 and remained so until issue 24. Greg Capullo took over as pencil artist with issue 26, McFarlane remained writer and inker on the book until issue 70.

Really makes me want to go back and start from scratch, especially issues 8 to 11 to see how each brilliant Writer did his take on the series.
