ok my only beef with the movie, they didn't really explain the people exploding much. They could have gone into detail about what they would be used for etc. And where was Shield? If there was a threat this big, Shield would have helped..I did like the pepper part about the power, she did take the drug after all..It was a good way to end a trilogy. According to Rdj there will not be another Iron Man with him as Stark..Avengers yes, Iron Man nope..

the extremis stuff they did kind of explain that some of them couldn't handle the power and blew up. i also thought some mention of why shield wasn't working on this, or where the other avengers were was needed. it could of been a quick scene and not taken up more than a minute or two of screen time. you would think a huge terrorist threat like the mandarin would get some special attention.

you did bring up my big problem with the end of the movie though. that being the pepper superhero crap. completely just took me right out of it. she just comes out of nowhere doing backflips, kicking missles at people and shooting them with dead eye markmanship, when the whole time she has been just a meek unassuming businesswoman. that kind of annoyed me a little.

but holy lord that woman's stomach is ridiculous. she was looking good in that sports bra.

i also loved happy's vincent vega impersonation in the flashback scene, that was awesome.

I hate what they did with Mandarin. Totally ruined who he is. They could have just used any name for that character instead of mandarin. Overall though, I liked the movie.

i knew this was gonna be the big point of contention with this movie. it's gonna be a love it or hate it type of division on this.

i thought it was a pretty good twist myself, and didn't bug me that much. plus it's still open ended if they ever want to revisit the character. how do we know that mandarin wasn't just acting like that on purpose cause he got caught by tony, so he throws him off with the story of him being a washed up druggie actor.

another thing that bugged me a little. why is rhodie cruising around the world in his armor taking down terrorist cells wearing a polo shirt and blue jeans inside the suit, lol.

you think he'd be in some kind of bodysuit or uniform when piloting the armor. not really a big deal i guess, just kind of odd is all.

#1 is still king of the Iron Man movies, but I did like #3 more than #2. The attack on him at home was epic.

Shield can't get involved in everything and remember: the helicarrier got jacked up and their underground base got blown up during the Avengers movie. Coulson is dead, Shield is powerless.

I gave the story a lot of slack just because of Tony Stark himself. He's an irrational character, so he makes some irrational decisions. What they did with the Mandarin was fun and overall the movie was a fireworks show, very spectacular visually.

The sequences with the kid in the town were pretty odd. I laughed, but some of the lines really threw me off balance.

One of my favorite parts was the WTF moment when Killian breathes fire. I think Rhodes' reaction pretty much summed every movie watcher's thoughts when that happened.

And I was rolling on the floor when The Mandarin was revealed. Ben Kingsley's performance was just superb in my opinion.

I personally loved this movie. IMO, the best of the three. However, I knew that comic purists and die hard IM fans would probably crucify it because of the way Mandarin was portrayed.

While comic book fans may have loved the actual Mandarin character, I think the typical movie go'er would have had trouble grasping how the Mandarin has power. Trying to explain rings of power and all they can do, might have been a little overwhelming to the average watcher. I liked the modern spin they put on the "Mandarin," making him a puppet figure head, as opposed to a real person.

In any case, it was a fun movie that I would see again in the theater. I hope the studio is able to get RDJr on board for at least one more. Perhaps make AIM a focal point, like HYDRA was in the CA movie.

I too enjoyed 3 more than 1 or 2. I loved the twist, and honestly didn't see it coming at all.

I don't care that Shield wasn't around, I feel like Shield is there for earth threatening events, such as a demigod and an alien army attacking, not for catching some terrorist with a bad attitude towards the United States. Tony even said at some point in the movie something along the lines of that.

Since this is a spoiler thread I have no problem saying that I LOVED the ballsy move of having Iron man pretty much not existent for the entire middle of the movie, after the attack on his house a good hour goes by before we see Iron Man again, and even at the end during the huge climax we see plenty of suits, but a lot of the battle is Stark, and not Stark as Iron Man. I loved that.

I'm still not sure how I feel about the movie. I think it left me wanting more?

Hoping they develop AIM more, and possibly see MODOK.

I think SHIELD may have been too busy picking up the pieces that were still broken after New York to really get involved. That and the fact that the government was content with using Rhodes/Iron Patriot to fend off the Mandarin until Tony made it his personal mission.

I was completely taken by surprise with the twist on the Mandarin, but I think that they can still "re-use" the character at a later date if needed. Much as Liam Neeson did in Batman Begins, there could always be a twist that the true Mandarin was working behind-behind-the-scenes, with the Kingsley character the figurehead and the real Mandarin pulling Killian's strings. Kingsley rocked both roles though.

And the end-credits scene - though not really a preview of an upcoming movie or teaser - was pretty funny IMHO.
