Default I made it!

So as most of you know I started playing baseball again this year after not playing for 11 years. I had to try out to make a team and I did. I was ecstatic when I did cuz I always loved playing and was excited to play again. So we had a game today (I went 3-4 with a walk, stolen base, 2 runs, and an RBI) after the game my coach comes up to me and tells me that I was picked to be on the all-star team! Can't even explain how exciting it is for me. The game is at AAA phillies stadium and is gonna be televised! People are gonna have to pay to get in a game that I'm playing at or can watch it on tv. It's gonna be a very cool experience. And I bumped my average up to .500 now, which is To any of you that don't know anything about baseball that means every other time I am up I get a hit. I am tied for highest average in the entire league

It makes me wonder what would have happened if I kept playing and didn't piss the last 11 years away on drugs and alcohol

You might have been so focused on baseball that it took time away from comics? lol

Wow, that's awesome man! Congrats! (though as Nate says, don't let this take away your focus on comics...make sure it's an "and" solution ;o)

Life is essentially a cheat and its conditions are those of defeat; the redeeming things are not happiness and pleasure but the deeper satisfactions that come out of struggle.

-F Scott Fitzgerald

Good point. I more than likely would not be collecting comics if I stayed playing. I've only been collecting a few months as its what helped me get sober

Great quote. There is another league in my area I'm trying out for next year. More games and more talent in the league. Scouts sometimes come tothese games. Problem is I'm 29 now. May nt seem old but it's hard to get a professional start at that age. It reminds me of a quote from The Natural. "Guys don't start playing at your age son. They retire"

Don't count yourself out man. If you have the talent you have the talent. Some of the greatest martial artists who ever lived were still amazing later in life. In sports.... it's more about heart and soul than body. If you have the heart for the game and give your all in every game while a 20 year old is only in it for the money and girls...... It will show......

And you have something far more valuable than youth I feel........ experience. I am young, and I am always told I have much to learn, lol. I would give 10 of my years for some of the knowledge that these people have on this forum have about comics and investing, along with the battle experience, training knowledge, learned skill that my martial arts masters have.

Look at a clip of the Akido Founder Morihei Ueshiba (he was 85)

Awesome job man! If it helps from a comic book perspective, Stan Lee was 40 years old when he created Spider-Man. Anything is possible. And 29 isn't THAT old. 30 is the new 20 now, isn't it?
