Default The Wake

I went back a few pages and didn't see anything about it. Forgive me if I missed it. I know most of you guys are here for the speculating side of it. I am here to get leads on new comics coming out I might want to read. (Yes, you guys are causing me to buy 2 issues of some comics) One of the guys I follow on Youtube was talking about The Wake by Vertigo on his site so I ordered it with my last order from Midtown. Just got here and I just read it. I must say, I liked it. If you haven't seen it yet, you might want to pick it up and give it a read. Anybody else here read it? What did you think?

Very cinematic feel to it, I look forward to seeing how claustrophobic and atmospheric it will become once we unravel the mysteries of the del and learn about what creatures they are holding.

Can't wait for issue #2 this week!

I actually saw something similar to Snyder's story on cable. A Discovery Channel documentary regarding the real life findings of a group of scientists that believe they found real mermaids-humanoid creatures that lived in the deep sea. Creature in the last panel looks similar to pictures in the documentary. This should be an interesting read.

I was excited about three releases this year. The Wake, Collider, and Pretty Deadly. The Wake did not disappoint. I can post my favorite page from #1 in a few minutes. #2 tomorrow.

That top panel. We are in for a ride.

(I have copies in my sales thread for less than cover because I bought a ton for the 1:25 incentive variants. And shipping is $2.39 for 7 ounces, which is one packed comic book)

I got collider & Pretty Deadly on my radar.
Pre orders in for Collider already.
As you're probably aware Pretty Deadly is delayed with no clear release date that I have heard of
I am wondering if they may do a thought bubble variant for Pretty Deadly as Kelly Sue De Connick is one of the guests there this year

Rumor has it they submitted a solicit last week, so maybe we'll see it next week in Previews meaning a September release date.

Are you going to the thought bubble festival man? I am hopeful, my mate who likes to geek out on comics with me just got made redundant and don't think any others would really be into it so i'm waiting to see what happens on that front.

Its a belter of a line up this year too, so many great guests - as good as any US con for modern writers and artists!!

I can't stop selling #1. Glad I got a few hundred of them. I'm only making $2.20 profit on each one after supplies/fees/shipping, but it adds up when you have this many.

The past few boxes Diamond have sent me have been coffins. It's ridiculous.

This reminds me of what I've said many times, it's a marathon, not a sprint.

The Wake is Vertigo's best selling title of all time. You should have no problem moving those books.

The power of Snyder!

Do you own a store somewhere?

I wasn't real impressed with issue #1 and even thought about not continuing the series. Now that I read issue #2 I'm definitely along for the ride; this is gonna be a good one I think.

Finished reading #2 last night. The end of the book is what has me most interested in reading the entire series

Scott Snyder is doing a great job with this series, I think this one will be better served as a Trade because I kinda' remember what's been happening, but I'm sure three's a lot I forgot while reading twelve other series per month. I'm not a big fan of the artwork, and I really want some explanation how there's a Godzilla sea creature as well when all the others are slightly larger than humans; meh. Jumping to the future for issues #6-10 will be a fun ride though, can't wait to read them.
