Default Wolverine Comics

Hi there was trying to get an opinion on whether or not to get my wolverine comics graded before selling them. I collect mostly football cards and am putting together the 35 national chicle set,and I am a huge Chicago Bears fan, I only own these 5 comics bought them a while back and think it is time to sell them. I was wondering if getting them graded would be a good idea. I have Hulk 181 in probably a 4-5 missing stamp and a cutout on page 10, but nice book, I have Giant size x-men #1 probably grade a 2, Uncanny X-men 94 probably grade a 2 as well, 1982 Wolverine Mini grade 8-9?? and the 1988 Wolverine signed by Stan Lee go 8 or 9??

Thanks for taking a look and let me know what your opinion is.

Thanks Tucker

There are too many 9.8's to compete with on that Wolverine book for top dollar, I think you'd be wasting your money grading them as their condition isn't high grade enough. Most people who don't want to pay for a 9.8 will grab a 9.6 or 9.4, but anything under that they'll just buy them raw. Not trying to discourage you, but it's just that's how the comic buying public can be, especially die hard collectors.

You can go to ebay and search completed sales to give you an idea of current value, and ComicsPriceGuide.com - Online Comic Book Price Guide will give you book values based upon condition.

Quick question: what is the average grade of a book off the shelf?

It really depends as to how they were handled before making it to the shelf, how many people man-handled it before, but I've sent books in off the shelf and gotten a 10 before (Only once, but true story).. then again, I've gotten 8.5 too.. I'd say they're typically in the 9.2-9.8 range at least at the shops I go to here in Indy.
