No question. I posted statistics of how I buy, grade, and sell older issues for maximum profit in the shortest amount of time. The response I got back was buy low and sell high.

NM, for some reason I read "How "do" I determine if a book is worth grading.", which clearly wasn't what was posted. Anyways..

I like Think Tank. And if I ever see a thread talking about the story, then I might have something to say but I haven't seen anything since I joined. Geez.

Edit: http://www.blowoutcards.com/forums/s...rchid=11416484 I have never seen you post anything about a story ever. And you have had a lot more time than I have.

Your right this board is all about how much money you make now nothing else that's all I see you post about ...

Story is Second Hand here I understand believe me ... I read 12+ titles monthly for no investment value just shear enjoyment try it out you might like the hobby more instead of just ripping people off on your over priced walking dead 9.6

Someone drop in homer coming from the bushes, but in a lab coat..Man, everyone must think I'm pond scum. I never talk about stories. Not cause I don't like comics but more because I don't care about people's opinions on stories.

I'm off the forum for one night & look what I missed!!
My 2 pence (or should I say cents!!) is I'm in it for the comics as I love comics - for the stories, the art & the pure escapism of it - fact I can also make money out of it is just a bonus & the whole specualting thing can be great fun & very rewarding when we get news like we had the last few days.
Yeah one day I'd love to make a business out if but for now I'm content to keep reading & enjoying comics.
I assume most people on the forum are like myself & have been reading comics on & off for far more than a decade or 2

When I said congrats on tommy voltages 17k profit in another thread, I was actually being sarcastic, but I guess its hard to convey through words alone and no punctuation. Get your head out of your brown eye fella, you haven't been here long and already people seem to love you, oh, and you are clearly the messiah of comics.

Since we are talking about numbers, let me share my sorry state of 'investment'.

Money spent on comics so far (I started in 2013): $5.7k
Revenue earned: $800
Cost of books that have been sold: $870
Profit/Loss: $-70
Unsold inventory: $4.9k

Jan & Feb: I bought a lot of junk like lady mechanika, great pacific etc.
March and Apr: I also spent too much on image #1s in when the modern bubble crashed.
May onwards investment has been much better

My top 3 titles that I spent the most $$
Helheim: $1.2k
East of West: $500
Five Ghosts: $255

My top 3 profitable sales
Sixth Gun
Rachel Rising
Todd

Lesson learnt. There is no need to buy into every damn #1 to make $$. In fact, those that I did, I think I will lose the most.

Speculation is just too much work for the return.

Cost/benefit analysis.

I got back into comics for the speculation aspect. However, I quickly realized that it takes as much time as a real job and I already have one of those. So, I decided to slow the speculating and concentrate on the reading. I am in a much happier place in regards to this hobby now.

Dont get me wrong, I have still made a good amount of cheddar in the process, but most of it is going into my collection as opposed to restocking the speculation machine.
