Default Venom 39

This is a really good read guys. This character mania is so awesome. Reminds me of X-23.. A true natural with the Symbiote and she only had it on for a few minutes.

Issue #38 is her first appearance, I believe, but only in the last panel.
So, which issue will be the most desirable and be considered her first appearance comic??
Plus, the next issue(#40) features her on the cover with "Venom" ala Batman/Robin style, so maybe all 3 of these issues will be worth investing in if she becomes a "hot" character-??

I would say 39 mainly because I'll use the hulk 181 argument. Yeah 39 will be her first full appearance and thus the one people will want if she gains popularity.

Good point, but what about Fantomex in New X-Men #128?
He only briefly appears in that issue, while he graces the cover of the next issue and, if my memory serves me he has much more of a presence in that issue, as well, yet #128 is preferred as his official first appearance...

butt at the same time 38 was her origin story too, and it was a full page,
not a quater page or half page ect - is there official rule to what equals a cameo ?

I own New X-Men 128, and Fantomex was on at least six to eight pages where he was the headliner, so that qualifies as a first full appearance. X-Men 282 has Bishop on the cover, but only really on the last page of the issue otherwise, and it is a slightly stronger book than #283.

They might not even mention the first full appearance for quite a while. I've noticed on new moderns CGC just lists artist, writer, title, date and does put anything in the right column. We'll see later on eh?

The origin story cements this issue as the first appearance, in my opinion. Imagine if Amazing Fantasy #15 only had Peter Parker in costume on the last page, but the rest of the issue just told the back story of Peter Parker in high-school, living with Aunt May, etc.
We would still consider Amazing Fantasy #15 the first appearance of Spider-Man and that would still be the holy grail for Spidey fans.
I think there would be a stronger case for Venom #39 being the preferred "key" issue over #38 if Mania was featured on the cover.
I feel silly even debating this, when we don't know if she's going to be an important character in the MarvelU yet, but I guess that's the silly fun of being a comics speculator...

Default Venom #42 final issue

So, the Venom series is coming to a close with issue #42, and Rick Remender is quoted as saying that issues 38-42 is not only the final storyline, but also the 5 part origin story of Mania, "if she survives it", he says
Marvel Confirms "Venom" Ending in October - Comic Book Resources

Well, there's much uncertainty about this new character. He might just kill her off to add more dramatic effect to the final storyline, but what if they launch her into her own series?! High-risk, high-reward on this!

I have 4 copies of 38 so far...maybe, I should stop there. I don't know...

If any of these ideas come to light, could make it a bit valuable long term down the road. Look at Thunderbird, not a major character but the death issue he's in still goes for good money.
