yeah odd choice. He's not quite monotone, but I don't see him as having the vocal range to pull off such an exciting character.

Just hire a no-name actor and let them own the role! We don't need a "face" behind our cartoon rocket raccoon.

FFS, if they hire Jack Black to voice him, I'm gonna go ape-shiz

Hmm, very odd choice indeed. Rocket is one of my favorites and I'm praying they don't screw him up.
But I trust in Gunn and Feige to make all of the characters as weird and amazing as they are in the comics. After all, they are both huge comic book fans themselves and they both love Rocket as much as the next person (especially Gunn, who wants to make Rocket the "heart" of the film).
And maybe Cooper has some unknown vocal talents that he hasn't displayed yet? (My jaw hit the floor when I found out a few years ago that Mark Hamill was the voice of the Joker)

Yeah, I don't dislike Bradley Cooper, but I like when new people are given a chance instead of putting famous faces behind comic characters.

I agree with this statement to an extent. There is just sometimes you want to hear either a Hugo Weaving, Anthony Hopkins or Morgan Freeman just talk. I am not putting Cooper in the same breath with these magnificent voices, but sometimes it is good to hear a familiar tone behind a character.

Can we get Peter Cullen to voice RR? Or is he way to recognizable as Optimus to even make that leap?

Agree 100% with this. I've made it no secret that the Silver Surfer is my favorite character and (a bit off-topic) while the the FF/Surfer movie was horrendous, I LOVED the way the Surfer looked on the screen. And then he talked and all I was thinking the whole time is "why is Morpheus's voice coming out of the Surfer's mouth?" I love Laurence Fishburne, but I didn't want to think about his voice every time the Surfer spoke.

(Back on topic) - give this to someone who is NOT a well known actor instead of someone who we can instantly tell who it is.

I totally understand and agree with you guys, but I also think Marvel is looking for an "A-List" name they can attach to this film. All of the actors in the movie so far are fantastic choices but none of them are household names. Why do you think they brought Anthony Hopkins and Natalie Portman on for Thor? Yes, they are incredible actors and fit the roles nicely, but they also brought much needed star power. Who had ever heard of Chris Hemsworth or Tom Hiddleston before Thor?
The same is true for Guardians of the Galaxy. With such weird and obscure source material, they need to be able to say, "Bradley Cooper is involved in our movie, come see it!" And with him only providing his voice talents, they should be able to land him without having to kill their budget. I think it's a smart move as long as he has the vocal talents to pull it off.

Natalie Portman an incredible actor? Have you seen the new Star Wars movies?

I kid, I did like her in Thor and some other stuff she's been in but Star Wars, ouch!

I don't blame Portman for that debacle. When your script is #@#@#@#@ and your partner in the movie is Hayden Christensen, I don't think Dame Judi Dench could have done much better.

The Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis love scene gave me a different kind of ache..
btw- watch Closer(2004) if you're a Natalie Portman fan, and besides her scenes as a stripper, it's actually a pretty good movie.

Closer was a very good movie and it is surprising to me how unnoticed it went; Clive Owen was awesome in it. Portman seemed to be a great child actress who really hasn't steped up her game as an adult IMO. In Anywhere But Here with Susan Sarandon, another great acting job as a teenager.

Anyways, back to the topic at hand, I guess I could see Bradley Cooper being a decent choice as Rocket. Cooper nails the sarcasm in every role he's in, and he has been played very different roles very well when you see him in The Hangover, to Limitless, to Hit and Run. Put it this way; I have never seen Bradley Cooper in a role where I said "He sucked" afterwords, so I'll give him the benefit of doubt on Rocket Raccoon. However, I still stick with my pick of Steve Buscemi being the perfect RR.

Omg Closer was a horrible movie. Clive Owen and the internet cyber scene made me want to throw up. It was vulgar just for the sake of being vulgar and I completely forgot about portman in it. Plus Julia Roberts has sure dropped off in the hotness factor and acting abiility imo.
